Why Don't They Teach This At School?!?!

Wow!! I'm barely through Chapter 1 and I've already learned how to multiply any number - even big ones - by eleven. AND get the right answer! I'm about to tackle the rules for multiplying by twelve... Maths without tables.

First read this book 40 years ago. Wanted to re-read it as I am helping a 12 yr old boy with special needs. The book is an inspirational story and gives an intriguing insight into mathematics without knowing tables. Not sure I can get my pupil to learn all the methods, but it gives him some access and may spark an interest into the maths he finds so hard.Read full review
