Something never change thank god.

With the current top 40 download chart sounding so sameold sameold and emerging artists all sounding alike , We are forced to go back years to listen to good quality well made music.
My choice this week was Jeff Waynes War Of The Worlds having owned this album on vynal for a long time i thought it was time to update to cd, previous unimpressed with digitally remastered music this cd sounds amazing. The dolby surround sound working to full effect you will rarely miss a note , good quality stereo equipment making it feel alive.
Reasons for buying this cd apart from the classic entertainment value it will aso scare your kids sh***ess ,great if you are going out for the night and leaving them with the baby sitter you will definately get your monies worth.

Still Brill !!

This '70s classic CD is as great today as it was when it first came out. In digitally remastered format now, it sounds a lot better than my old vinyl copy.

For those who have not listened to this, it is a Rock-Opera musical detailing HG Wells' War of the Worlds story. Packed with stars including Richard Burton and David Essex, and also Thin Lizzy.

The remastered version has an additional final track - which I was not that impressed with - but overall this is a great double-CD

Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds

This was probably one of the first albums I ever bought in the lates 70's on cassette. I heard one of the tracks on radio recently and decided it was long overdue to get a version on CD.

This version with surround sound features (just need the surround sound stereo to go with it ;-)) is fantastic and I noticed many more sound effects, synths and striking guitar than the original tape recording. Comes with a detailed booklet on the key cast and musicians. I prefer the first CD with the famous open lines by Richard Burton, Forever Autumn and ThunderChild - but the recurring theme music always strikes a nerve. A must for any record collection!Read full review...

Unbelievable

Bought the LP in 1980 and loved it. Then in the mid 90's updated to the cd version. Great leap in audio quality.

Then I found the SACD version, bid on it, won it and then discovered what SACD is and realised I didn't have the equipment to play it even though I have a 5.1 surround sound system. So I was a bit disappointed that the 5.1 can only be played on the SACD player.

When I received it, I played it on my dvd player which is hooked up to my surround sound system. Although I'm not getting the full surround effect, the quality of the remaster is superb and in my opinion the extra jingles and sound effects have again accelerated this classic beyond its years. When I put it in my car cd player, I don't think I've heard anything as clear or lively as this recording.

Even if you, like me don't have the SACD equipment, but have a decent stereo you will still get excellent results with this cd. It is the best version so far. I just wish they'd do it in standard 5.1 surround that most people have, but this is SOny. Of course SACD players in the future will no doubt be dirt cheap so, I'll wait and pick one up then.

Jeff Wayne The war of the worlds....excellent!!!

I had the original on tape and Ive grown up listening to it many times over the years and always said I would buy it on cd one day. I saw Jeff Waynes's live on stage The War of the Worlds at Wembley last 18th December and words cannot describe how excellent it was. I decided then that I would buy the cd at long last and I was not disappointed. This remastered and extended cd is excellent and I highly recommend it if you are thinking about buying it. It is so clear and you are instantly transported into the whole drama of it. Absolutely brilliant.Read full review...
