The Wire - Season 1
Probably the best crime detective series you'll ever see, I don't know what took me so long to get round to watching it. Now I have an insatiable appetite for season 2, 3 and 4. Please make 5 soon !
best TV DVD
The best thing I have seen on TV since I don't know when, so very happy to buy the DVD for series 1, and shall be buying the rest of the series as soon as.
So good I bought the DVD!
I was prepared for this series to be not much better than good even without its slow start. There seems to be a plethora of highly-polished US TV shows and I thought maybe the shine would outweigh the substance. But I'm glad I spent time on it. A great script that fizzes with wisecracks, dry humour, pathos and character conflicts. The acting never hits a wrong note especially the drug dealers. While it's not as hard-edged as OZ, it gets to grips with diverse institutions within the city of Baltimore and reveals similarities in the infrastructure of each. The Wire DVD,
I bought this item because I had read favourable reviews, the first two episodes were a little dissapointing and the language a bit "ripe" but as I persevered with it I began to get really involved. One needs to concentrate a bit more than your usual crime series and I am looking forward to watching the 2nd series.This might sound strange but I keep on thinking of dickens and Shakespeare.Read full review...
Cliched, but, Must See TV
A great television show. It took a few episodes to establish the series but after that it was hard to stop watching. The plot was very in depth and the charcters well developed, on both sides of the story. Can't wait to see the second season!Read full review...

Modern day Shakespeare
The Wire is the most underated show on TV at the moment.
The genius is in the lyrics, the script flows over you like honey.
Great, world class actors, real life storylines , phenomenal pacing and hysterically funny and bitterly sad in the same episode.

The best cop show EVER!
Great acting, great dialogue, great storylines... what more can you ask for? Probably the best cop show EVER. Rated over 5,000 times on IMDB and has managed to achieve a 9.7 out of 10.
DVD BOX SET
I've been after this series for a long time. It's superb! Well worth the wait. Getting series 2 shortly and can't wait.
