Cool lens effect, kind of soft but it's go character

Wow this lens is cool! It's very, very different than most lenses. It's not fish-eye, it's linear, which is weird and unique. It makes it so you can zoom in without refocusing. When you get the angle right can look really cool. I've found most wide angle lenses look best when they are above you facing downwards at between 30 to 60 degrees from horizontal. This makes the lens warp look 3D. The same technique works great for fish eye too. The image is a bit on the soft side. Most photographers will tell you that they like sharp lenses due to high pixel count, while creative videographers love lens with character. The projected image from the lens is rotated 180 degrees, which I'm assuming is how they got it to be linear. You can fix that in OBS using a 180 transform. The lines aren't curved like a fish-eye lens, they are actually straight, but it warps other objects such as my drafting chair, to look smashed and fat. You'll probably need an IR filter to use. My incandescent light bulbs put off so much IR it's not usable while they are on, but it looks okay without while they are off, but the colors shift; my skin is more pinkish than usual on this sensor. I emailed the company and they responded that "I think it best to find some filter between 10mm-18mm and use either glue or double stick tape to hold the filter on the back of the lens."Read full review
