top seller

brilliant box set compact, and totally brilliant reproduction, picture quality is great watching on 75 inch screen i couldn't be happier when you think this series was created 51 years ago in monochrome and made for tvs which were smaller than todays pc monitors. if you're a fan of old comedy you won't be disappointed buying this dvd box set great value for money.Read full review

Very poor

The first 2 discs in black & white were of poor quality even considering the age but disc 3 consisted of just MP3 recordings of the audio of the TV shows - you heard sounds and speech but you could not relate them to anything that would have been on the screen. There is nowhere warning you of this before you buy. Had I known I would not have bought the series.Read full review

Good item, especially as they are all in a compact case. Too good to miss, old stuff before PC CRAP

good item, apart from disc 3 only showing pdf files, wonder why. but still entertaining. I only bought this to keep all episodes in one compact box, as I have them all individualy in seperate cases which take up a lot of space. If only I could find out how to get the recordings off of disc 3 it would be perfect. However, still good value.Read full review

TV Icon finally as a box set

Alf Garnet was a truly controversial icon of British television from the 60's and 70's who reflected the politics and society that existed at the time. Yet many of his comments about politicians, in particular Labour Party ones have a modern day irony. 'Til Death Do Us Part wasnt the Alf Garnet show but a family saga that often saw Alf pitted against his 'silly moo' wife Else, daughter Rita and 'scouse git' son-in-law Mike played by Tony Blair's real-life son-in-law Anthony Booth (Cherie's dad). The endless arguments and debates were often tinged with terrible language and remarks many of us find unpalatable today. But Alf was often made to look foolish and isolated. But this was essential viewing in a Britain rife with militant unions, power cuts and a London docklands that was clearly in its dying days. Six years after the programme finished, the London docks were finally closed!Read full review

Very entertaining, 'keeping it real'!

Due to when the episodes were recorded, late 60's to mid 70's, the repro. quality is very good, due to comments and reviews I read when I purchased this, I started at disc 5 and went through to 8, now watched 4 and quality is good, I am expecting lesser quality on 1 to 3, but considering that some of the archives were lost on the earlier episodes and attempts have been made to recover copies, I expect to view with an open mind however with discs 4 to 8 playing well, I am not disappointed.Read full review

BBC TV sitcom classic from the mid 60's

Not very politically correct these day's not for the easy offended. For me it was what I was brought up on in the Sixties watching the BBC so a blast from the past, part's when you cringe and area's which are entertaining and funny. Warren Mitchell play's the bigoted foul mouthed working class Cockney Alf Garnett at the time a groundbreaking BBC TV sitcom.Read full review
