TGBT4 Timeguard

Good product
Easy to fit
Brass connectors inside are a proper size to fit existing wiring.
Some people complain about the fact that the blue indicator switch light is always on but mine is inside the hot press & behind sliding glass doors. so when you need to visit the bathroom in the early hours & maybe need some hot water it is easy to see without putting the kitchen light on. The most important thing for me is that I can pop it on & forget about it as it needs 15 minutes to heat the water, unlike the last switch which had a minimum time of 30 mins.
Good for my electricity bills!
Which is why I bought it!

Cheap copy of the Optimum OP-EBT2

An (almost) identical copy of the Optimum OP-EBT2 Switch. It feels and looks cheaper though. It functions the same way as the Optimum - press the button to set the timer for 15mins, press twice for 30mins and so on... but the button feels really unresponsive, sometimes you can press the button, hear & feel it click but it doesn't actually operate - you have to really press it firmly and square on. I never experienced this with the Optimum.
The only other difference is the connections on the rear are laid out differently so care needs to be taken if replacing like for like with the OP-EBT2.
Ultimately though, it does the job just fine.

simple way to boost immersion heater when your main heating is off

My needs are for a simple way to boost the immersion hater when my Rayburn is off in the hot weather.

It does this well, and is simple enough for anyone to use - so I am well pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. It fits within the small box just like a light switch and fitting it is a doddleRead full review...

Blue

A great timer. With one button you can cycle through five option - off, 15 mins, 30 mins, 60 mins and 120 mins. Then off again.

If you select 2 hours (120 minutes) - four blue light turn on. As the time reduces the lights turn off.

The magic button has a nice blue LED. Which is always on. It never turns off. A blue LED light shining 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's easy to find on even the darkest night.

On the reverse are five screw terminals. Two neutrals, earth and two lives. It would be much better if there was a live/ neutral IN together, live/ neutral OUT/ FEED together and TWO earths.

It fitted very well. It's almost silent.

Very handy switches

I find these great and have put them on all water heaters in the house. For my new build I will be having a small electric heater in the bedrooms controlled by one of these.
Only thing is that the blue light is on constant and can be annoying.
It would be better if it only came on when the boost is being used

Timed switch for immersion heater

A great way to ensure the immersion heater cannot be forgotten when switched on. Peace of mind now so the switch is well worth fitting. Some have commented on the permanently on light around the boost switch, I suppose if it was not illuminated some could say that you could not see the switch in a dark airing cupboard.
We do not use the electric immersion very often so I fitted a switch in the supply to the boost switch, mounted just below it so I now have both options.

A Very Useful Product

Does what it supposed to. This unit prevents the sinking feeling you get when you remember you forgot to turn off the hot water in the morning. It is not programmable. The led backlight is always on and the unit does seem quite bright even when not in use and perhaps better suited to a cupboard so. I had to replace the unit after two and a half years but still all in all a very good productRead full review...

Blinding - both ways.

You can set it to switch something on for a set period (I am using it on an electric towel rail).
Very good for a quick boost and you cannot forget to switch it off; saving energy and money.
Only criticism is the light around the switch which is on all the time wasting power (OK only a little but 24/7/365). As this is on the landing it is like a searchlight at night so I have to close the door. It would be handy to be able to switch the light off (why does it need one anyway?)Read full review...

My energy supplier is considering changing my economy 7 meter.

Fitted this to my day immersion.
15 minutes first thing gives clean plates & less minion hand cream.
My economy 7 night immersion is now off, normally its busy testing
a dodgy thermostat for hour after hour every night.
Let me tell you its feels pretty good, having saved your planet

Money Saving - Immersion Water Heater Controller

A great device, which if you are a bit forgetful, switches off your costly electric immersion heater after your chosen on/boost time. The cool blue backlighing of the switch is a nice touch, and enables you to see it in poor light conditions. Easy to fit by simply swapping out the old style manual switch - only requires the depth of a standard immersion heater switch pattress box,Read full review...
