Makes my AT33 ANV sing

Being new to moving coil cartridges I found an Audio Technica AT 33 ANV at a bargain price and after reading the reviews took the plunge. So I then needed a moving coil phono preamp and after reading how well received the Tisbury Audio mini passive amplifier was, so I thought I'd give their Phono preamp a try and I must say I'm very impressed. The combination of cartridge and phono preamp and my roksan kandy amp clearaudio turntable and Kef ls50 works really well on the music I've tried so far, classical, rock, folk etc. Very very low noise floor on well pressed records and I'm hearing a space and clarity which is a step up from my aurum wood classic mm cartridge. The AT cartridge is quite low output 0.3mV but the Tisbury has enough gain to drive it properly. It also seems a well made unit and stylish to boot. All in all good value for a well made good looking piece of equipment that works well. Read full review...

Tisbury Domino

All works, nicely packed and arrived when it said it would.
Need to use more and I'm only using a linear tracking turntable with MM cartridge. Sound quality got better after a few uses. Now seriously thinking of upgrading my turntable to get the best from the Tisbury Domino. Great valueRead full review...

Tisbury does it again

Not sure how they keep making these great value products. I bought the Domino to go with a Rega Planar 3 turntable and a Cambridge audio CXA60 which it complements both exceedingly well. Sound quality is excellent. Simple to set up straight out of the box with the standard factory set settings. The Domino is a well made, solid, attractive little box that does way more than it's price point suggests. I use this with Van Damme interconnects and speaker cables (like Tisbury products, the best kept secret in the hifi industry!!). There really isn't any need to go and spend multiple hundred or thousands on equipment when you can buy this little box for a fraction of the price. You will not be disappointed.Read full review...

The missing piece to my system

After building and improving on a 'second' hi-fi system for a downstairs room over the years, I was never quite satisfied with the sound. The word that springs to mind is 'hollow'. How can this be with the quality equipment I was using? (Systemdek turntable, Nagaoka cart, Marantz amp and B&W speakers).

Thanks to already numerous glowing reviews on EBay about this amp, I had to give this little box a shot.

The amp is physically solid and well made and looks great with the walnut-wood front panel (note to Tisbury, have you ever considered offering more than one wood finish on your products?). Packing and set up was quick and uncomplicated. A small and easy to follow instruction booklet is provided.

My initial impression on the sound was positive. Trebles were a bit harsh at first, but these soon smoothed out after several hours of use.

I cannot say much more, except that this has filled and opened the sound considerably for me. What was once hollow, now sounds solid. Presentation is warm and detailed.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this great piece of kit. Matched with half decent components or better, it will get the very best out of your records.

Good Quality Well Built Phono Pre amp

I am delighted with this phono pre amp the price is mid range with high end sound. I have previously owned a Project pre amp which cost around the same price but the Tisbury is by far better giving a natural well balanced wider richer, enhanced sound. I have a Garrard 401 with SME 3009 tone arm and Ortofon 2m Blue cartridge with Monitor Audio Bronze speakers and Marantz amp. I found the Poject at times a little harsh and slightly compressed, however the Tisbury is more open and natural giving a slightly warmer and less tiring sound. I would say that it must rate with pre amps twice the price. I have been using it now for a few weeks and would highly recommend.Read full review...

Tisburytastic!

Not having heard of Tisbury Audio before , it was with some trepidation that I ordered the Domino phono stage.
Straight out of the box it showed promise but after a few hours running in it really started to sing.
Vocal expression was communicated beautifully with lots of fine nuances from albums that I thought I knew inside out.
The mid range has a sparkling clarity without becoming over bright or fatiguing , allowing you to follow individual instruments with ease.
Bass is taut and tuneful without flabby overhang.
I expect I will get more from this beautifully made unit as it runs in even more.
I’ve owned phono stages that cost 10 x the price of this unit and I can honestly say the Domino gives very little away to much more expensive equipment.
All in all I’m delighted with this purchase and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality phono stage at a staggeringly reasonable price. I don’t how they do it for the money.
But well done Tisbury Audio for this little musical gem.

Superb phono stage at a bargain price. Amazing detail and soundstage. Nothing better at the price.

I bought my Domino secondhand. This is a fantastic phono stage for the money. It's very nicely made and very smart looking. What I like is the amount of adjustable gain that is available. I get so fed up with low gain phono stages!
Coupled to my vm540ml cartridge it sounds absolutely excellent. It has excellent detail retrieval, solid bass and a wide open soundstage. It punches way above it's weight and leaves the Cambridge Audio 540p and my Project ds2 for dead. Hard to believe for this money, but good attention to detail always pays off.
My only gripe is that the input capacitance is fixed at 180pf. I would like to have that switchable or even off, other than that it's a bargain. It is also very low noise and having a switchable gain up to 67db for MC cartridges, that is a blessing.
A good, honest well priced and well made product, which in the hifi world of snake oil, is very welcome. Recommended without hesitation. I shall but another one for my second turntable.

Great product and UK built too.

I have a hi-fi system from the 1990s. Linn Sondek lp12 with Akito arm and linn K9 cartridge, all original and no mods. Sadly the Linn Intek amp died a few years ago but and someone gave me their old Arcam amp. The Lp12 never sounded quite as good and then i got an old Arcam solo which surprisingly had rave reviews for a combination unit and indeed sounded great in my system . BUT no phono input so i started looking at the usual suppliers and was going to try the £95 REGA phono pre-amp. Then i happened across the Tisbury and decided buy it.
A month later i am very happy i did.
Lovely real wood and metal construction so it just oozes quality. Of course the sound is what really matters and it has been playing some old vinyl with great results. A lovely "LINN" type sound, warm, smooth but detailed and with great timing. A top quality KIMBER silverstreak cable links the Tisbury to the ARCAM . Very happy, thanks Tisbury.

My jaw dropped open after I put on the record

I set this up with Thorens TD295 MK II, Shure V15VxMR, Piriya Integrated Amp, and KEF Q100. The previous pre-phono in the system was Pro-Ject Phono Box USB-V. TA Domino is a huge improvement to my system. I put on Romantic Violin played by Christian Ferras, and WOW! I hear more musicality, detail, stage/depth, ... better in every aspects. I enjoyed the records much more from the first piece and have been delighted ever since.

Hats off to Tisbury for a great product at such a low price. I am a very happy customer and have been recommending this to my friends on Vinyl Lover FB group in Thailand.

In addition, TA ships out fast to Thailand and very smooth transaction as well.

Surprising quality and sound

I had been aware of Tisbury as a company because of the reviews on the Pre-Amp which I bought a couple of years ago. Well the phono amp impresses me a lot with its unstated classy looks and fantastic build quality. I know from previous experience that it takes some time to run in before you hear the sound quality at its best, but my initial view is that it is comparable if not better than the Project Tubebox I was running.

I am using an Ortofon Bronze Quintet MC cartridge and the gain was adequate without using a step up transformer. The gain was easy to alter with a number of clearly marked settings on the base an a handy little tool thoughtfully provided to flip the switches.

At the price, what is there to say - try it yourself.
