Toshiba hard drive fits the bill

Once my iPod freezed and wouldn't start again. It was a problem with the hard drive. I had to buy the new one and replace the broken part. It was really tough to get my iPod Classic 80 GB opened; I damaged to case, but there were only minor scratches. The hard drive was described as 'almost new' or 'refirbished' - it works really fine to me. The only issue that Toshiba's HDs tend to make clicking sounds. Otherwise I've had no problems with my iPod since then.

Very good product. Just be careful, it won't fit in every portable device.

A friend of mine asked me to fix his iPod Video: the original 60 Gb hard disk was damaged. I've got the chance to swap it with a Samsung 80 Gb HD taken from a 6th generation iPod Classic: it worked perfectly, so I went on with the upgrade. Oddly enough, the new Toshiba didn't work on the iPod Video, but only on the iPod Classic... that's why both iPods have now a new 80 Gb disk :-)
The device is very good, although a little bit noisy: it was just a matter of compatibility. Never take for granted that a bigger hard disk would fit into any iPod, you could get really disappointed.Read full review...

tools and zif cables included with dirve

I use these drives in my wife's Zune players. She loves them. They included 2 Zif cables as well which really impressed me as well as basic opening tools.

Nice drive, nice price, and my iPod lives again!

Just installed the drive, and it is syncing perfectly! I couldn't bear to spend $80-120 on a replacement drive for my iPod Classic, and luckily I didn't have to. Very pleased to have this option, and I cannot complain about the functionality. One thing to keep in mind is that this drive comes shipped without foam padding and rubber rail bumpers; however, this shouldn't be a problem. Just peel the foam off your old drive carefully and reuse the adhesive tape. You may have to (as I did) use additional adhesive on the rubber bumpers to make them stay in place. Can't seem to connect

Hey guys,

I connected the new hard drive in my 5th gen Ipod Classic. But i can't seem to restore it, my ITunes freezes up and does nothing, the ipod keeps showing DO NOT DISCONNECT, but sometimes it says OK TO DISCONNECT.
But still i can't seem to get it working.

Anyone has a tip to get it to restore?
