I built a new drop-bar mountain bike, so matching up road shifters with a mountain rear derailleur was at hand. With older bikes, the ratio match-ups were not a big issue, but the newer equipment (Shimano 105 7000series shifters and XT M8000 rear derailleur) has larger shift ratio mis-matches.
This Wolf Tooth Tanpan 11 makes that road/mtb mismatch completely disappear! Shifting is crisp, smooth and flawless. Installing the Tanpan was easy - just follow the exceptionally clear instructions. For my build, the Tanpan also made the cable run from the frame to the rear derailleur better for smoother shifting.
