Very useful piece of equipment

I had been looking for an oscillating drum sander for a while but the free standing models were all expensive. I saw this and took a punt on it. It was very easy to mount it in a simply made table and now I have a free standing machine which is ideal for my guitar making. The drums are very easy to change but make sure the locking screw is very tight as if not the the sanding sleeves have a tendency to rise up the drum. The question "Is it powerful" the answer is yes and no. It's powerful enough to remove light surface markings but not aggressive enough for heavy duty work but it still takes away a lot of the elbow grease. I haven't used it as a hand held sander so I can't comment but it does have a simple clamp for bench mounting which is probably a better option if you can't be bothered to make a small table for it.Read full review

Good bit of kit but has some faults

Pro's, Good variable control, bench mountable, quite powerful. Con;s short oscillations which can still cause burning if not careful. difficult getting replacement sanding tubes of the right size.

Good value but has to be modified.

I have recently received this product. It feels robust and works well, however, the oscillations are a bit shallow traveling up and down by only about 1cm. The drum sanders supplied are supposed to be 80 grit but they are of very poor quality and hardly impact the wood at all. I solved the problem by replacing them with a good quality replacement sanding drum. The dust extraction system has a non-standard diameter connection and extracts through the motor compartment rather than the area around the drum. I also immediately replaced the plastic foot with a 20cm by 30cm by 5mm aluminum sheet to provide a steadier base for the workpiece.Read full review

A good all rounder

An excellent power tool for the price @nd does an excellent job both in the hand and on the stand. Remember that this essentially a diy tool though I would use it on site..
