Disappointed with how quickly it has weathered

Initially I was impressed with this product, fairly easy to put together, fantastic delivery within just 36 hours and very comfortable. However I have been left feeling very disappointed when after only a week the wood has split in several places, on the grain of the wood and the joins. This chair came flat pack but was extremely easy to assemble. it is made of a high quality wood and is solid and comfortable with or without a cushion.
