Growing up way too fast

The Americans are coming; the Americans are coming! The Iraqi children include so many unfortunate but are making the best of life in war torn Iraq under Saddam Hussein. News is scarce; rumor run wild and it is a society unfamiliar to Americans. It is well worth the watch, to see what war can really wrought and how many heros there may be among everyday people.Read full review

Turtles Can Fly is all about warbabies . The main character looks half American and is struggling to survive . Children feed and clothe themselves with the detritus of war . Soviet scrap is used as housing and money is made digging up and dismantling landmines .
Maimed children and Iranian troops in US knockoff gear surprised me . The imagery is compelling and the characters well acted .
Some war movies compel towards war . This movie is about living in it . These kids are not anyones mascot . They grew up too fast and war is a fact of daily life for them .
There's always war somewhere and there will always be warbabies and orphans . Great movie and an apt depiction of war as fact of life .
