The best of the best available....as always!!
The best of the best available.
Isopon have always been synonymous with body repair so it comes as no surprise that this paint excels in every aspect.
It is workable in cooler weather but doesn't "gel" when hot. It has low vapour VOC so does not affect eyes and nose when painting in confined areas.
The application I chose after grinding to clean metal was to pre-treat with KURUST first. Once dry, this paint was applied liberally to all affected areas over KURUST and sealed immediately Touch dry was achieved in less than 30 mins and was tough and weather tight within 60 mins (at an ambient 20 degrees Celsius)
Good adhesion properties allowed both p38 and p40 filler to bind instantly with no ill effect or drama.
Sanding was a doddle and even with a 120 grit paper, the paint remained strong and true only going slightly paler in areas of hard sanding.
Always my go to item for this type of work, it is heavy in Zn as can be attested by the weight of the paint and has always delivered what was expected.Read full review

great product, must use on metals exposed to elements
weighty little can, meaning it contains high amount of zinc, this in turn means a good anode effect
paint this on your rusty exhaust or rusty chassis and it will act to a certain extent as a anode does on a ships hull
cheapest on the market but still effective, sticks well but be aware once tin has been opened any unused zinc 182 will likely set hard in tin
I've be using zinc paint for decades and used it on my VW T25 camper for 25 years to keep it rust free, and VW campers of that age were well known to be rust buckets

excellent
good for bare metal and slightly rusty surfaces. sticks to surface well. It needs cellulose thinners to wash brushes and maybe needs thihnning a bit cos its quite thick to paint sometimes. Excellent undercoat before top colour coat. USed it on my 1962 riley..all the underneath..Read full review

This review is really aimed at the manufacturer. It was easy to apply by brush, and a respected product.
It does however require 2 coats to cover properly. I had hoped it would cover in one, as the task in hand quite involved.
I am sure that when I last used this product back in the early 70s it did cover with just the one coat.
To be fair, it does say on the tin to apply one or two coats, so the manufacturers are really aware of its shortcomings.

Brush on coat dries quickly for protection
Dries quickly, so bursh marks show, but fade as the coating dries and can also be lightly flatted afterwards with fine sandpaper. I have not tested it long term but the zinc base should provide better protection than other primers. Can be thinned with cellulose thinners which might be required if the paint thickens in the tin, when used a bit at a time. Read full review

Win The Fight Against Rust
I have used this product over many years and have found it gives superior results to many others on the market even if a top coat is not applied. It gives a nice thick protective coat if applied to ironwork by brush and dries very quickly I have thinned it and sprayed it on also but several coats are required unless a top coat is applied. I have no hesitation in recommending this product and was most pleased to find it on Ebay.Read full review

Good stuff.
Have used this product for years, IMHO a very good primer with what appears to be low permeability. Perhaps not quite as protective as the old red 'Bondaprimer' which I used in the early 1970's (which I suspect is not available now) but much easier to prepare for spraying.Read full review
