Just about necessary for Managing Cisco Devices
I purchased a couple fo Cisco devices including two switches. As many know these have a console port to manage them and I needed the serial cable to connect to my computer. Since most of my computers no longer have a serial port, I needed to connect via USB and tried this device. Initially I had to download the latest FTDI drivers and immediately it showed in device manager (Win 10) as a serial device, in my case on COM3. Plugged the pother end into the switch console port and opened a terminal program (Putty) and I was connected. Simple as that it was working. Decent construction so it should take some abuse but I don't intend on any destruction testing so will take care. Being a nice "baby blue" color as original Cisco serial console cables also allows me to easily pick it out in my collection of various cables.Read full review...

Better alternative to connect your Cisco devices to your computer.
No complicated stuff to connect this serial port to your computer. Works well with Windows 10 (no need to search for drivers). Able to access Cisco IOS via Putty terminal. Just plug, make sure your driver installs automatically, and you're good to go.Read full review...
