Two great western classics by a legendary director and star in one affordable package!

Two classic Clint Eastwood films in one package. Excellent value and some of his finest work. Multiple Oscars for Unforgiven all well deserved. At least 4 Oscar winning actors and an engaging story about a former gunslinger who reluctantly returns to violence for money, albeit to avenge a wrong.
Strong acting and a fine script combined with Eastwood's superb direction make this a great purchase for that title alone.
The Outlaw Josey Wales, produced almost 20 years earlier was another instant classic and again benefits from the strength of Eastwood's direction with another excellent cast. He combines all the grit of a classic western with some fairly brutal violence and even some heartwarming and comedic scenes.

Similar but different westerns.

If you're a Clint Eastwood fan and are still watching the DVD versions on a big screen, this two movie pack in Blu-ray is worth the upgrade . However, if you have never watched these movies, consider them among the best of Eastwood's western offerings, but for different reasons. While both movies show Eastwood as a reluctant participant in old west lawlessness, the similarities end there. The Outlaw Josie Wales has the actor as a pursued man while In Unforgiven, he is the pursuer. The former movie is a well balanced story with action, drama, and some humor. The latter movie is gritty and dogged in it's story of revenge for hire. Some watchers may will find they prefer one type over another, but they are both worth watching at least once (my wife will watch Josey Wales again but not Unforgiven).Read full review

These two films are testimony to the genius of Clint Eastwood. I cannot think of a Western better than The Outlaw Josey Wales, which, by the way, follows the classic Revenge Play pattern with a twist at the end, The supporting characters are all well played and each has its own degree of complexity.
