Improved vacuum cleaner but still not perfect
I still have the older version of this vac which has been in use for the past 6 years. The new one is improved in some areas, but not in all. The 13m cable is a great feature especially if you have a limited number of electric sockets. The problem on the old vac was that the 2 cable retainers were never long enough to successfully retain 13 metres of cable when you wind it up, which could be very annoying having to do it yet again to try and stop the cable falling off. How did VAX improve that ? - they fitted a thinner insulated cable to the new version and kept the retainer tabs the same size - bad idea. The new cable is not as well insulated and is therefore more prone to being damaged. Other than that - the new Vac seems a little more powerful, now has roller height adjustment for hard floor/ deep pile carpet, and is relatively light, and easy to empty - and providing you have no dust allergy you won't mind tapping the inner cyclone part in the bin outside to empty the considerable amount of fine dust it collects - where does that all come from ? I often wonder what is the point of having a Vac with a HEPA filter when you have to employ someone else to empty it - as the reason you bought one with a HEPA filter is because you have a dust allergy. This looks like a good vacuum but looks can be deceiving. This is a poorly designed impractical machine and the only thing it has going for it is the power. Avoid like the plague else like me you'll be lumbered with the worst vacuum cleaner you'll ever have in your life. Read full review...

One socket, whole house!
Initially I was unsure about how this Vax vacuum would perform. I needn't have worried. The features on this vacuum really do work and effortlessly. Switching surfaces and adjusting the suction power is a breeze. I have no trouble reaching up my stairs (two bends included) and I never have to unplug throughout the whole house! Emptying is simple, I like how the system strips down providing easy maintenance.
If you are deliberately looking for a steerable vacuum or no cable then look to another vacuum however, I have no issues with these features.
I wonder if Vax could make a steerable stretch!
For a (under £100) vacuum, this Vax really does perform and doesn't leave a drop behind in my house. The suction has been consistent right out of the box, storage is hassle free and the construction is solid.
Vax automatically registered the vacuum's guarantee, which I thought was a nice touch. Buying direct from the manufacturer feels like a wise decision, the customer service is pleasant and available.

I absolutely LOVE my vax!!!! I had the next size up before I bought this model & I thought that that was the model I had bought, so when I opened the box I was a bit disappointed at first because it is smaller than my old model but boy it is alot better than my older model. It was easy too put together, I love the length of the cord, (I only live in a small 2 bedroom upside down house) I can plug it in in the living room upstairs & it reaches all the way downstairs & round my 2 bedrooms. I love the release button on the dust container & it is very easy too clean. It has 1 filter less than my other model & for me it is alot better for it. Does a good job
It cleans fantastically and pulls dust out of carpets well. . A little cumbersome when using tools but again does a good job. Tools not as easy to fit as I would like but I managed. Emptying is a little difficult to get all the dust out of the machine and getting it totally to pieces was a problem but when I finally did it I was able to get it clean and ready to use again. Good performance but handle spoils it.

We use this in addition to a cordless GTech which is great however you cannot vacuum the sofas or stairs with it as its simply for floors.

This is the 2nd Vax Air we've had, the old one is still working but the handle 'lock' has stopped working but is still great for the car/garage. Great Suction!
Good product with the best suction I have ever found - and I've been through many makes of vacuum cleaner! Very easy to switch between brush on/off without bending down. Easy to empty and keep free of dust. My only contra is the lead which somehow doesn't work - it is constantly getting in the way. The so called 'clip hook' is a joke - only retains the lead for a few seconds. I would prefer a shorter lead and move plug more often.
