Oldie but goodie.

You could buy a flashy new tripod but may fall to bits with your expensive gear on it. This was built to last & is a tool not a toy. Not the lightest but will hold your camera rock steady.

If sharpness of focus is important and it usually is ! ---- use a tripod . No other attempt to keep the camera still works !

Velbon started by making pro quality tripods of which the VE-3 is one of - if not the - best. If you are into plastic and bells and whistles then this is not for you. If you want one of the best MIJ tripods for less than half a current Velbon (maybe less than a quarter) I can recommend this without reservation..
