Washinton & Crowe in VR battle.

Denzel Washington plays a disgraced ex-cop given a chance to redeem himself by capturing an escaped killer - the twist is that the killer is a creation of Virtual Reality given form and is virtually invulnerable. On top of that he has the make-up of the most evil murderers and despots in history - but with a more personal link to our hero. Washington has to battle with his own demons whilst catching this menace and must ultimately face a similar threat to the one that cost him both his career and his family.

A bit of a mis-step for Washington, in an attempt to make him an action star along the lines of Stallone, Willis and Schwarzenneger - let down by a poorly executed script and direction. The film features early appearances by Russell Crowe (as the killer, SID), William Fichtner (TV's Prison Break) and Kevin J O'Connor (The Mummy) but has little else to make it rise above other films of the genre. That being said however, an ideal evening's mindless entertainment.

Vituosity

This film has a similar idea to Lawnmower man with virtual reality escaping its computerised confines into the real world. Russell Crowe plays the escapee - a deranged sociopathic murderer who is an electronic amalgam of all the worst killers in history. Denzel Washington plays the lead as a convict cop released to capture the escaped Crowe. Good action but the effects are rudimentary compared to todays CGI stuff, nevertheless its worth a look to see Crowe's madcap antics.Read full review...

Best virtuoreality movie for the budget!

Let's go back to the mid 90's where is was ok to watch a film for its fast paced action and uncomplicated plot.

Virtuosity is a film to get lost in and just enjoy. At $24 million it would not stand up to the films of today so why be critical of it? Eat your home made popcorn and keep Mum.

Denzel Washington does a tremdous job in acting from a script unworthy of his skill set. But now and again an actor can be allowed to not think about a film, but just play a role. Same for Russell Crow. It hasn't hurt their careers now either?

This is a film for vintage viewing and nostalgia . So sit back and enjoy!
The film made a loss of $24mil but who cares. Buy it!

Oh by the way; great film soundtrack and good cinema photography of LA. They should of made a sequel?

So, what are waiting for - step into a virtual dream that dares to be unreal.
-Enjoy!
