Good for the price.

A couple things: the design makes fine focus difficult. But I like the manual aperture setting. Could the tripod ring be made easily removable? It ships with a Nikon adapter BUT that adapter BUT that adapter requires a 1mm hex wrench - which are uncommon in USA - for USA, ship the adapter to the body with the 1mm hex wrench.

Now used to the, so serious nature photography using tripod will soon be under way. Good service, well packaged. I would recommend this lens at this price level.Read full review

Cheap option for a long lens, very portable.

Pros: It's way cheaper than spending a thousand plus on an L lens. It's light, compact and 500 mm, great for travelling, hiking etc.. Looks pretty cool on the camera. Good for bird/wildlife and close up photography as well as getting the moon in close.
Cons: Manual focus and limited uses at f/8. Not the sharpest pictures, but decent for the price. You will need a tripod for most shots, but handheld at fast shutter speeds is possible in bright daytime conditions. Shallow depth of field, this can be an advantage depending on what result you're after. Great intro lens for telephoto on a budget

Love it! Great lens for the money. Of course, gets some "purple fringe" at a distance, but that can be easily removed in Lightroom (and free equivalents).

If you want to see pix I took through it (using a Canon T4i Rebel) I have some on my flickr, under "Intergalactic Prairie Studio."

I call this my "antelope lens" (I'm in Wyoming.)
