Style, features and value.

Had a VonShef kettle before, and it was very good. At the price I paid for this one( £28 ), it's unbeatable ! Being 3Kw it boils quickly, it's well made, and it looks very stylish. Unless you are into fruit teas and instant coffee, you wont need the variable temperature settings, but it's nice to know they're there. So buy one !Read full review

Lasted 15 months only.

Seems kettles are a throw away items these days. Sadly the plastics buttons collapsed inwards inside a year old, but now it has a mind of its own. When you switch it on normally a light illuminates within the kettle as well as a beeb. But recently it sometimes works sometimes not, but totally unreliable. Sure it’s been used a lot for tea 4/5s a day, there’s only the 2 of us so a relatively quiet life, but after a year should we really be throwing it in the land fill? Very disappointing, I wish now for an old fashion kettle that works for years.Read full review

Nice inexpensive kettle with temperature setting

I was reluctant to buy a kettle which wasn't made by a well known brand, but I read good reviews about this one and the price was right, so I decided to give it a try. Overall, I am quite happy about my purchase. I purchased this as a replacement for my Tefal temperature control kettle which died after many years of service (it was 4-5 times more expensive than this one).

Pros: This kettle is a 3kW, and boils quite a bit faster than 2.2-2.4kW kettles which are more common. It has a temperature setting which is also a convenient feature: you can heat the water to 50, 70, 80 or 90 degrees. Build quality is good, it is made of stainless steel and did not have any plastic small or other odors whatsoever.
Cons: Most of the cons I mention here are in comparison with the much more expensive Tefal kettle I had before: 1. This kettle does not have the handy current temperature reading, it was handy to know the temperature of water when the kettle stayed for some time after boiling. The current temp could have be indicated by the LED color without increasing the cost (color LED is already there, so this would have been a software thing) 2. The controls on Tefal were more ergonomic due to its curvier shape. I could control it from any position whereas on this one I need to turn it on the base to face the handle, click the temperature setting button several times to select the desired temperature and then press the power button to start the heating. No big deal, but comparing with the other kettle I had, that was more convenient. 3. Workmanship quality of the plastic base seemed a little bit better on Tefal, but the difference is really very small. Also this one seems more noisier, but that may be due to higher power of the heater.
Overall, this is a very nice buy for the price.

Cheap and cheerful

Pleased with the purchase. Item arrived yesterday and used it a few times now with the default 100 degree C setting. It seems to boil quite quickly and quieter than my previous one. Lid opens widely, easy to fill.
Just a few things that could be improved: 1) the lid feels a bit filmsy but it doesn't affect the function of the kettle. 2) When the kettle is quite full, it shakes violently when it is boiling. I think it would be better to have a pear shape profile which would add stability. 3) the filter is very fiddly to fit. I took it off to wash and could not put it back exactly the way it was fitted. W/o the filter, you have quite a large gaping opening which could let water escape when you have a full pot boiling. 4) the kettle beeps when you replace it on its base, which is a bit annoying.
Otherwise, happy with the purchase. Personally feel more comfortably with a stainless steel kettle than a fragile glass one which may be pretty but not practical for clumsy people.

VonShef Variable temperature kettle

Great price for this kettle which has variable temperature settings as we like white and green tea. I was also impressed with the different colour lights for each heat setting. It’s also sturdy and light weight.Read full review

Great kettle! Loud beep...

This kettle works great, it's sleek, built well, definitely worth the price.
My only issue is that every time you do anything with it; pick up, put down, change settings, turn off/on; it beeps... Loudly... Loud enough to not use in the morning. Though if you have a kitchen away from the bedroom it'll be fine!Read full review

Kettle ok but takes a long time to turn off

Good to be able to make coffee by setting water temperature so that it doesn't boil. However when I do want boiling water the kettle takes a very long time to switch off . Because of this I have knocked a star off as obviously it doesn't help with energy efficiency. Read full review

Excellent kettle

I love our new kettle, it is fast, it has 4 different temperatures, it beeps when it is done and also when it is back in its docking
Bay. Also it has a different colour of light to which temperature you pick, which I did not know.
I would highly recommend it, if nothing else the speed is great and it looks good too for the price.

Stainless steel Kettle

Very good and boils quickly, it's what you would expect from a 3KW kettle. My one criticism is when it reaches boiling point it continues to boil for a further 10 seconds. Therefore a bit wasteful.
