Good replacement for halogen G9, but think about the colour temperature

This is for the warm white 8W LED, and replaces a 40W halogen capsule. We have a number of these as wall lights in the same room, so a reasonable match in both colour and apparent brightness is important. I an pleased to say that this LED bulb is a good match to both, meaning that I can replace the others at my leisure.

My earlier trial for a replacement chose a white LED, but this produces a distinctly blue light - as one would expect with a stated colour temperature of 6000K. The warm while LED has a colour temperature of 3000K, which is close to what you would expect from a halogen filament lamp.

So, if you are replacing halogen lights with LEDs do think about colour temperature, In some settings, you might prefer the bluish white ones, and replace them all in one go,Read full review

Cheap Quality

On comparing with a supermarket brand I wish I had spent a bit more, the light output is poor for the claimed lumens, no way are they putting out 5W ,made in China , need I say more, now left in the shed for emergency spares and will more than likely never get used.Read full review

Great light with a slight flaw

The light is a great brightness and the colour warmth is good too.
The only issue I have is there seems to be a frequency issue that is gives a strobe like effect if you move your hand about. Not an issue if you're just normally moving about but any fast movements can leave ou a little disoreineted.Read full review

Don't work with my dimmer switch

I bought these to use with a dimmer switch but they buzz when on full and the buzz stops when I turn the lights down to half.
I have tried these in another room without a dimmer and they work fine but they aren't as bright as the halogen bulbs they replace.Read full review

THESE LIGHTS ARE LISTED AS 5W AND EQUIVALENT TO A 40W HALOGEN. ALTHOUGH THE LIGHTING IS DIFFUSED AND CREATE A NICE EFFECT, THEY ARE DEFINITELY NOT EQUIVALENT TO A 40W HALOGEN AND ARE MUCH DIMMER. These aren’t dimmable unless (as now told) you have an led compatable dimmer switch.

Great replacement to save you money.

Replaced all 9 of the halogen lamps in my lamp fittings some were slightly difficult to push in but managed eventually - looking forward to the savings.The lamps should last longer than halogen ones - to be honest that wouldn't be difficult as I seemed to be replacing one every couple of weeks or so.The light output is similar to halogen if you get warm white ones.Read full review

Not very bright.

I bought these 5W LED lights to replace my 1.8W LED lights from Tesco. They are not as bright and I have put my old ones back!
