A Real Showstopper

This triple DVD collection is a great insight into the career of the iconic wrestling legend Shawn Michaels. It serves as a reminder as to why he became so popular initially and why audiences continue to praise him to this day.
The first disc features a two hour documentary following his introduction to the business right up to recent times. It covers many interesting topics such as the injuries that have plagued his career and the classic 'montreal screwjob' with Bret Hart, with insight from the man himself HBK as well as fellow WWE personalities Triple H, Chris Jericho, Vince McMahon and many more. The second and third discs consist of classic matches dating back to his professional debut in WCCW against Billy Jack Haynes in 1985 right up to his wrestlemania rematch against John Cena on RAW in 2007. In total there are 14 full matches some highlights include early matches tag-teaming with Marty Janetti in the Rockers, the legendary 1995 royal rumble where the Showstopper entered the ring first and won, and his 2003 return where he won the WWE championship from former DX companion Triple H.
Overall this is a great collection and is an essential for any fan of the Heartbreak Kid. The documentary was a highlight as it offers an interesting look into the illustrious career of Michaels. It was also entertaining to watch the some of the early Midnight Rockers matches. However, with over a third of the matches featuring the Rockers less time was left for his career as a singles wrestler which is where he really shined. The only weakness to this collection really is that i don't think the matches were necessarily chosen as well as they could have been, for instance there is none of his wrestlemania appearances which i don't understand. Other than that this is a thoroughly entertaining collection with eight and a half hours of pure HBK - one of the most charismatic and dedicated performers to ever step in the WWE ring. Overall i rate this DVD collection 8 out of 10.

One of the best WWE DVDs out there!

Shawn Michaels - Heartbreak And Triumph is a brilliant DVD with lots of insight in to Shawn himself.
It starts with a lot of stories about the days with The Rockers and their raise and fall to stardom. When they finally break in to the WWF it goes in to the break up of The Rockers and how Shawn wanted to take his career further in the singles titles.
Then the rest of the DVD is about his Intercontinental, WWF Championship, injuries and return to the WWE. Mixed into this are stories and insights on how Shawn was a disliked man in the business and details on the Montreal Screw job and the Curtain Call. Shawn speaks honestly and openly about the lower times in his life and doesn't hide any fine details.

The matches on disc 2 and 3 are basically the full matches of what he speaks about on the 1st disc. They aren't always his best matches but it let's you see the full matches he was speaking about in the DVD which is good.

Overall the DVD has to be a 10/10 for me. It has a lot of Shawn and fellow wrestlers speaking about the events in his career which always makes a DVD 100% better than the 10 seconds talking then a match that they usually release nowadays. The DVD just makes you realise how HBK will always be one of the best (if not the best) superstars to grace the squared circle.

A MUST BUY FOR HBK FANS!!

A triumph in terms of match quality.

This is a very good career introspective of Shawn's career, and historians will appreciate his debut in World Class as well as the Rockers' superb outings. While Michaels and Bret Hart in their books seem unhappy with the way the "phantom title change" match came out, I personally thought it was an excellent piece of work other than the indecisiveness in the second fall after the rope goes.

Michaels comes across as funny and likeable which as a Bret Hart fan, is very hard for me to say. However, anyone who dislikes Triple H will hate him even more after a viewing of this as he comes out with some outright lies about "the Hitman" and his refusal to lose in Montreal.

Overall if you're a Michaels fan, you probably will buy this regardless, but if you're a WWE fan in general, it's still an essential purchase. Be interesting to see how the more recent Michaels set compares.

Shawn Michaels - Heartbreak and Triumph

What a phenomenal DVD! There is only one Heartbreak Kid, and this DVD documents him excelently.
It gives you all the information you need on Shawn on disc-1, some great matches in his earlier carear with Jannety on disc-2 and some brilliant matches from his singles carear on disc-3.
A MUST have for any true HBK fan!
