If your in business, this is a must see film.

I mainly purchased the DVD, because of two reasons: Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. I'm quite an admirer of both actors. I have virtually no knowledge about the stock market, or about stocks themselves. Those who are in the market or have vast knowledge about stocks will probably enjoy the film much more. However, I still enjoyed the film. When a movie's really good, it doesn't matter whether or not the audience member is interested in the topic. Besides, the film boils down to basic universal themes, like selling your soul to the devil and choosing the darker path.

The characters are interesting and richly developed, with the exception of Darryl Hannah's underwritten character. I can see why she didn't like playing that role. Douglas is always a joy to watch, and makes a suave yet slimy villain. I wouldn't necessarily say he deserved an Oscar, but he did a fine job nonetheless. So did Charlie Sheen, who is actually the star of the film despite the fact that most people remember "Wall Street" for Douglas as Gordon Gecko. Sheen gives a fine multi-dimensional performance. I love the scenes between him and his father Martin Sheen, who plays his father in the film. Oliver Stone made a great choice casting the father-and-son team, since the tension in their scenes feels very authentic.

There are some predictable plot turns and character arcs, but altogether Stone keeps the excitement going. I like how the climactic scene between Douglas and Sheen is shot without cuts, with the camera moving from person to person, keeping the tension going. If I knew at least an inkling about the stock market, I wouldn't be completely lost during certain scenes, but what can you do? I still think it's a fine film with solid performances.

My score: 9 (out of 10)

GREED IS GOOD !!!

This film epitomises the greed is good culture. Michael Douglas deservedly won a Oscar for his performance as Gordon Gecko, who will stop at nothing to earn a quick buck. Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) is a young broker aspiring to the riches available on Wall Street. Taken under Gecko's wing, he uses his father's inside knowledge of an airline company to make money on the stock exchange. The relationship between Gecko and Fox makes the film and like many of Oliver Stone's films, there is a contrast of good (Sheen's father) and evil (Gecko).
A must for any DVD collection.

Wall Street

Oliver Stone opened fire on the greed decade of the 1980s with this morality tale set on Wall Street. The film stars Charlie Sheen as Bud Fox, an ambitious rookie stockbroker from a blue-collar background who is magnetised by Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), a Mephistophelean superbroker who specialises in corporate takeovers. Despite his initial resistance to Bud's entreaties, Gekko finally takes on the eager beaver as his protege, schooling him in the kind of slash-and-burn maneuvers that have taken him to the top. This style is far more attractive to Bud than the more prosaic but principled approach to investing preached by veteran Lou Mannheim (Hal Holbrook). And, at first, it's impossible to dispute his preference; as Bud's life moves into the fast lane, he quickly acquires an upscale apartment and girlfiend, interior designer Darien (Darryl Hannah). But when Gekko demands that Bud not only break the law but directly undermine his union leader father, Carl (Martin Sheen), and jeopardise the jobs and lives of his friends and family, he realises that the cost of success might be more than he's willing to pay. WALL STREET is a riveting, testosterone-fueled tour of the Street's upper echelons, featuring standout performances by Douglas and Martin Sheen.

Oliver Stone breaks open the inside world of corporate America, to deliver a story that is truly unforgettable. Already a genuine classic, this film combines intelligent screenplay with art and charisma, to produce a remarkable piece of cinema. A stark look at corporate greed, illegal trading, and general outlook on our own human nature, convincing, sincere and totally without the usual Hollywood sweetners. A genuine masterpiece.

Wall Street VS London's Stock Exchange

Wall Street & London's Stock exchange are similar, however we do not have that much inside people willing to go the extra mile like Charlie Sheen does in this movie. But it is overall a breath taking adventure if you love easy money & a way of getting into the shares as it gives you an insider about shares & how it can make big money. It is an old time classic & for it's time is really good.Read full review...

Lunch is for wimps!!!!!

Bought this little eighties throwback for a 'Wall Street' themed night with the lads.

Next day I bought the braces, the striped shirt with contrast cuffs and collar and a power suit.

DAMN!!! This is how to live your life!!

If the rumours are true about a sequel (endearingly entitled 'Money never sleeps'), you can count me in, baby!!!
