Affordable and fairly thorough

History with a pertinent and personal touch. The chapters about individual airplanes is good, and for the most part, the interviews with the "experts" is pretty good. I normally don't pay a lot of attention to the bonuses on the dvds if the subjects are the same, stale old history or if the narrator can't pronounce the names accurately, like some of the more famous personalities have done in other series. The bonus following the bombers was interviews with Allied prisoners of war. I found these very interesting, and like one said, real life is nothing like Hogan's Heroes.
I do wish there were more airplanes covered. The bombers consist of the 3 American heavies. But WWII had a lot of medium bomber usage, and some very significant missions. The coverage on the 3 planes covered is quite thorough. Nothing that isn't covered in many series of books such as the Crowood Aviation Series or the Putnam or Naval Institute Press series. The books can get stuffy when they get into the super nerdy portions. But I have enjoyed the discs I have viewed so far.
