When stories grow with you, the reader

I had to read a certain number of pages in sixth grade English by end of term; suffice to say I was well behind. I grabbed a few thick ones off Mom's bookcases and immediately was intrigued. Keep in mind I'm but eleven at the time. Not so poor little rabbits, driven to mad violence when needed. It's an adventure tale! I got through it and passed the 3rd degree on whether I really read it, or at all. 25 years later and found a first edition that was a steal (to me). It's like a completely different book, just first rate storytelling. I loved it. I love Watership Down. Many many thanks.Read full review
