1 TB Western Digital Elements external HD, a great buy for the money!

This makes seven portable hard drives I've purchased for work and/or home. The Western Digitals always perform great. This one I bought to use as a backup drive for the ole lady's laptop running windows 7 and so far it's working flawlessly. You get what you pay for.

I bought this hard drive to back up my laptop before re-installing Windows & on it. The hard drive was inexpensive and has more storage capacity than my laptop does. On the other hand, I noticed that even empty this 1 TB hard drive actually only holds 931 GB, roughly a 10% difference (1 TB = 1024 GB). I know that partition formatting takes up some of the space, but an empty drive should not already be 9.1% full. This device is clearly on the lower end of the quality scale for storage devices of its size. But at the end of the day it still does what I bought it for!Read full review...

Bottom line, if you need storage you can't go wrong with this WD unit.

I purchased this 1 TB hard drive to replace a 650GB hard drive that my daughter absconded with to backup her class work for her graduate program. This is a handy little item that is perfect my needs and data. I have a 60 GB USB devise that I store data on from work. This WD drive make it easy to come home and transfer data without worrying about maxing out the available space. If I need another I will not hesitate to go for a WD 2 GB drive to satisfy my needs.Read full review...

I have owned about 5 of these over the past 3 years. Started with 500GB and now they are up to 3TB. I have had no problems from any of them. The only thing that changed through the years, other than memory capacity, has been the design of the outside enclosure. My original was a metal casing and now it is plastic. It is still tough and durable. I would highly recommend this to anyone and I have bought them for friends as gifts. I have fully loaded 3 of these and they keep on kicking.Read full review...

Great product, very reasonable in price and a dependable name brand.

I bought this to use with a dishnet tailgater receiver, to make it into a DVR, recording movies, games, programs, etc. This unit fits the dishnet requirements, a lot of other units didn't. It was a simple plug and play operation and works perfectly, i doubt i'll ever use 1TB of recordings, but it's there if needed.
