Great Price on 4TB Red

Bought five of these gently used 4TB WD Red drives for a Synology DS1511+. Installed drives on a DSM 6.0.2 reset and let DSM format and deep check the drives. No errors. Drives ranged from ~30 hours to 630 hours with most on the low side. Temps on all but one drive were nominal in the low to mid 90s, one drive running at 100 so will keep an eye on that one. Is it good or is it bad?

First run of the WD diagnostics pointed out a lot of defects when I immediately started a return process. But subsequent runs showed no problems. Still dicey, but works as of now.

Great drives for my NAS

I installed these four drives in my NAS, and they work like a charm. The low RPM makes it robust and quiet, and setting up the Raid was a breeze. Smart-data makes monitoring the disks easy.

Best NAS drives on the market with Seagate coming in close next.

Does not work

Bought this and tried to use in my NAS. Would not work. Tested work WD test and it will not pass the most simple test. Before it even gets through a few minutes of an hours long test it is coming up with too many sector errors. These drives are garbage.Read full review
