I love this album whitney goes from ballads to pop with such ease and such a beautiful voice she will be missed

"Whitney" il miglior album studio di Whitney...

Nel lontano 1987 uscì uno degli album più venduti da questa artista piena di talento ancora oggi ricordata come una delle voci più belle e potenti della storia della musica mondiale. Stiamo parlando di Whitney Houston e del suo album "Whitney" che con più di 20 milioni di copie vendute nel mondo la consacrò come una delle artiste più famose del periodo. Un album in pieno stile pop-dance anni '80, a cominciare dalla coinvolgente e trascinante "I Wanna Dance with Somebody", hit mondiale (#1 in tantissimi Paesi tra cui USA e Italia). Ma troviamo anche ballads che da sempre l'hanno contraddistinta: "Didn't We Almost Have it All" (#1 in USA), "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (#1 in USA) e "You're Still My Man" in cui la voce della Houston raggiunge note al limite dell'impossibile, e il tutto in voce piena e potente. Da segnalare inoltre "So Emotional", terzo singolo estratto dall'album che riprende il genere di "I Wanna Dance with Somebody", hit energica come lo è anche "Love Is a Contact Sport". Chiude l'album "I Know Him so Well", un duetto pop-soul con Cissy Houston nonché madre di Whitney, un pezzo delicato che cresce secondo dopo secondo così come le due voci che si amalgamano tra una nota alta e l'altra. Un disco che sicuramente ha ricevuto un riscontro positivo sia da pubblico che dalla critica e che non si discosta molto stilisticamente dal precedente "Whitney Houston" del 1985 che segnò il suo debutto. Ad oggi rimane l'album studio migliore di "Whitney", quindi lo consiglio vivamente, specialmente alla nuova generazione affinché possano conoscere e apprezzare questo "mostro" sacro della musica pop, soul, R&B.Read full review...

Vintage Whitney!

I bought this cd as I hadn't heard it for ages and used to have it originally on vinyl when I was a little 12 year old. It brings back memories of singing in the mirror with my hairbrush! It is still as great as it was back then and the tracks definitly hold their own, some may sound somewhat dated, but with Whitney's vocals you never really realise as her voice is such a fantastic instrument. Obviously the well known tracks like 'I wanna dance with somebody' is on this cd amongst a few other released tracks of the time. This album is a mixture of uptempo and ballards, which Whitney puts her heart and soul into! Definitely recommended and definitely one of her classic albums! Music CD - 80's genre

I had this CD years ago and somehow it got lost. It has great sentimental value and I was thrilled to find it again and in mint condition. The songs are fabulous to sing a long to - alothough no-one hits a high note like Whitney. Apart from propeling me straight back to the 80's, it also reminded me of my time living in Atlanta - near Bobby and Whitney in the Country Club of the South and those hot Goergian nights when you 'Just want to dance with somebody'. I really like this CD because I used to have it on tape and I lost it, so when I saw it on ebay I just had to bid for it, Im so glad I got it because its great to listen to again and enjoy
