I like it though it is obvious that it doesn't put out the same 14,000 BTU as a window air conditioner would and not quite as efficient either. It does get cold but not really meant for huge spaces; it can't handle the area as well as an window air does. However, it was the only option for me currently with bars on all the windows. I live in Tijuana so bars are a common thing here (try to keep the thieves out).Read full review

90 degrees outside, 85 degrees inside, temperature only went down 2 degrees, after 24 hours of running, 300 sq ft room. have to use an additional fan to push cooling from unit. unit never reaches set temperature. I purchased this based on the majority of good reviews on other sites.
In my opinion, not worth all of the good reviews on the net. buyer beware.

Better than a heavy window AC!
This is my second Whynter ARC-14S Air Conditioner. It makes a lot more sense to have a portable AC on wheels that can be pushed to a window than one that is heavy that needs to be lifted into the window. Especially for older people. We don't have central air so one of these at each end of the house is great in the summer .Read full review

This machine does... NOISE
The Whynter ARC-14S portable AC makes noise over cold. It was a massive disappointment: It is impossible to stay in the same room as this machine. Forget it in a bedroom (was my project) except if your deaf or want to become so. To give an idea it does about half the noise of a land mower or a power generator. Horrible experience. Not least the giant used water like hoses are huge and horrible. Nobody with a decent sense of design would put this horror in any place but in an ugly garage...Read full review

The quietest, safest and coldest portable AC unit. It does take up some space but it doesn't matter because at the end of the day you're looking for something that will keep you cool, will not make too much of a fuss and will not kill you. Energy use wise it is not going to save you money when compared to traditional fans but you want quality cold.
