Wonder Wheel (DVD, 2017)

No excuses for Woody but he still makes movies, worth a watch.

It’s really too bad that Woody couldn’t get a theatrical run for this movie. Another gem in the necklace of pearls that he’s created over the decades of his career. It’s a shame that the baby has been thrown out with the bath water.

Much Better Than I Expected!

Story of Coney Island in the 1050's. Involves Ginny, Humpty Mickey and Carolina. Mickey ..the lifeguard is having an affair with Humpty's wife Ginny. Carolina, Humpty's daughter, was married to a mobster and is a marked woman, so " the mob" come looking for her. Ginny destroyed her 1st marriage by being unfaithful, and repeats this with lifeguard Mickey. She also has a son (about 10 yrs. Old), who is constantly setting fires.I won't tell you how it ends, but Kate Winslet is AMAZING as Ginny, can really show intense emotion, she's lovable because of her faults. Carolina is innocent, despite her marriage to a mobster, and plays her part very well. The music is SUPERB! perfect period pieces from the 50's. Although it was overlooked, it's another Woody Allen Gem, just as good as Cafe Society, Midnight In Paris, and many others. If you like suspense and excitement, your kind of film.
