Woodside W217 2.5W Solar Oxygenator Air Pump - White/Blue

GOOD BUT NOISY

For the £20 it cost me I have no real complaints about this product and if you can take the bad points into consideration then I'm sure you will be satisfied with it also!

GOOD POINTS

Cheap to buy.

Lightweight and very portable ( can be set up virtually anywhere around your pond).

Easy to assemble (no qualifications needed, a child could do it tbh).

Surprisingly powerful for what it is (produces a satisfactory air flow given its size).

A good length of cable from the solar panel to the air pump.

6ft of air tubing for each outlet.

Air stones and all tubing come with the product so you can have it running straight away (depending on the weather).

BAD POINTS

Very noisy (measures may be needed to combat the noise from the Air Pump, wrapping it in something or simply hiding it under an upside down plant pot is not good enough, and will need something with considerable noise canceling capabilities to remedy it fully).

Uneven air flow to the stones if they are set at different depths ( you really have to have them at the same depth to get maximum performance from both air stones, I just loosely tied mine together, obviously this does not apply to a single outlet system).

Clear bright blue sky really isn't enough (It may work but at a very slow reduced rate, light grey conditions and below I have not seen it function in at all, a little bit of sun and it jumps into life, full sun equals full performance).

Not good in water over 3ft deep ( It didn't seem to perform well around the 4ft mark, wasn't producing the finer bubbles that are needed, still works ok but I defo think its more suited to 3ft maximum depth, I have mine in 2 1/2ft and its great).

SUMMARY

It is good value for the money, the bad points I mention can be combated if you wish to do so, so I don't feel like they are a real issue/problem with the system in general (at no point does it claim to be silent lol) and you may find that the noise is tolerable to yourself.

I really like this product and would recommend it to anyone (pointing out the above to them obviously) it does its job and does what it was designed for well in full sun, I never expected miracles from a 20 quid air pump let alone a solar powered one but what i did get was a nice surprise with how well it can work and I consider it money well spent!Read full review

Very Very Noisy

Bought to replace the smaller cheaper version, after several years good use, dreadful mistake. This one is so irritating and noisy, given that you are most likely to be outside when the sun is out and its at its loudest when the sun is at its strongest, very unsuitable. You could cover the solar panel to stop it I suppose, while your outside. The double air-stone seems to be a problem as well, clearly one seems to be weaker or more restrictive than the other.
However I would highly recommend the single cheaper version of this, which I have already repurchased, very quiet and the solar panel is smaller and less in your face, far superior.

Pond Aerator

Good quality, well packaged, prompt arrival. Works great. Keeps my pond nice and clear. Easy to assemble. Good quality solar panel. Pump can be noisy in very hot sun but you can angle the panel and alter the pump flow to remedy this. And my frogs don't mind it.Read full review

Flattered to deceive.

I love Woodside, their solar power seems more than the competition. I have three 1 stone vesrsions, and decided to try the 2 stones.

Not really impressed, two were better than 1. Mine packed up. After 6 months I finally put it up it lasted less than 2 months. I rarely return products, I simply never buy them again.

It might be a 1 off, but I will stick to Woodsides 1 stone in future.Read full review

Not as good as single aerators

Bought this to replace 2 single Woodside oxygenators that stopped working after having them for some time. Wish I had bought 2 single again as the stones to not aerate equally as good. One works really well and the other only bubbles slightly, swapped the lines on the pump and the problem is obviously the pump. Also, the ones I had previously worked when the weather was bright and no sun but these only work in bright sunshine so a bit disappointed. Read full review

Nice bit of kit but Noisy

works great but in full sunshine its very noisy, i put the pump in a tin and packed it with sand, i then buried the tin about 3 inch below ground under sand and soil and i can still hear its high pitched squeak but only when close up so it no longer annoys us or the neighbours.Read full review

Works well but noisy

Works well but noisy - makes lots of bubbles form both outlets but makes a constant whirring noise. The last one I had was very quiet so wouldn't recommend unless your pond is a the end of a long garden.Read full review

This is a very good product for oxygenation of your pond. Only problem is, the solar power immediately shuts down if the smallest cloud goes in front of the sun. So by evening, it doesn’t work at all. Company should work on the solar system to save some of the power during the night.Read full review
