a movie of it's time.the tension between the superpowers was at it's height in the late 70's.the food shortages in the eastern bloc are the trigger point for the hard liners in the soviet military.rock Hudson is stoic as the president.brian keith is well cast as the soviet leader,unaware of his military pre emptive strike.david soul is the grizzled Vietnam vet struggling with his new posting.jerome crabbe is menacing as the soviet spetznas commander.plenty of tension as the mission escalates till the cliff hanging close of this finely staged movie.Read full review
