Steve Elmer has been awesome throughout the process and provides intelligent answers! Tunnel Rat Electronics (TRE) has my confidence. Though it is a pain to use on Linux (no fault of TRE), it is possible. Moving back to a Microsoft platform did make it easier though my pride took a hit in crawling back to it. Forscan is an excellent option for the interface. Too bad TorquePro doesn't support either Linux, Mac or Microsoft OS' on a laptop, but hey... again, nothing to do with TRE.

Using version 1.4 along with their modification to 500K has worked well on the 2003 F-150. Still trying to persuade my 1995 F-350 7.3l to cooperate, but I think I'm almost there.

I haven't tried to push any ECM mods through the interface yet, but it seems capable as you are able to TTY into the system. Finding ROMs on the other hand has proven problematic (likely due to proprietary issues as Ford still claims ownership on vehicles that have been discontinued (a long time ago)).

Doesn't work

Arrived promptly by post.followed instructions, the Bluetooth unit connected with my android phone. The app indicated that it was indeed linked as it entered into a scan of my car's system. Repeatedly ticked as On several parts of the vehicle system but also failed every time to piick up or read the the car system data or codes.as a consequence I was not able to delete the codes as it was unable to read and store the code data.I repeated the sequence of setup several times using not only my mobile phone but also an android tablet with the app/s installed. Gave up eventually as exactly the same regardless of phone or tablet. Was a big fail unfortunately.Read full review

The most useful tool I have purchased in quite a time

Being a cautious person by nature I was sceptical that a diagnostic tool priced so conservatively would prove to serve the purpose that I desired. Having previously purchased a scanner which failed to meet my expectations, I further researched the subject of cheap car system readers; coming to the conclusion that there are a considerable amount of products being falsely presented. This modified ELM USB scanner and the software that drives it is unbelievably sophisticated; it provides functions far more thorough than readers that cost three times more and merely scan. This tool has more than payed for itself at the first use. in that I was able to program new injectors into the E.C.U of my 55 plate Mondeo without any qualms. The marvellous feature of this adapted reader and programmer is the practical guidance given during it's usage; from the pointers provided when trouble codes are detected, to the directions given when performing interactive tasks with the vehicle systems; all pointers and directives are displayed on screen immediately and automatically,making this tool exceptionally intuitive to any person with a basic knowledge of modern can-bus regulated Ford motors. For those who may encounter difficulties when using the ELM tool, there is online help available from the official site, coupled with a forum which provides comprehensive detail about the anomalies found during use, with bountiful user generated solutions and advice; in addition to which there is a facility for reporting difficulties encountered in order that the manufacturer can revise software and procedures. Even if the ability to remedy any faults shown is lacking; a person that uses this tool can read the codes , the probable causes and the suggested repair procedure in order to ascertain that workshop personnel are not attempting to pull the wool over the eyes. In conclusion: The manufacturer of this ELM reader/writer and the FORscan software distributor must truly bear a grudge against the Ford dealership in that they present such a powerful and comprehensive tool for the price.

Usefull features and money saver

Does exactly what it says. With this I was able to program 2 additional transponder keys into the PATS computer of our 2005 Ford Focus (USA), using the free program FORSCan (we only had one key). I first purchased 2 cut keys from an online locksmith for $34. Best to first read through the program instructions and take some precautions to avoid any problems: to ensure no voltage drop during the car programing connect a battery charger; before deleting the existing keys from the PATS memory verify that your new keys can be properly read by the car (instructions from FORSCan).

The other option is to go to the Ford stealership and pay about $120 labour plus $60 for the keys, although some locksmiths can also do it for a better price.Read full review

Well for 12 quid I was able to reset my sensors,recalibrate the pump and injectors on a mk7 transit. Using my tablet windows 10. I was surprised how easy it was to use .that would of been 125 quid else where for half hours time . Got to admit I was a little scared about using it but it has done the job ... even cleared some faults that don't trigger eml lights ..Read full review

EOBD Diagnostics for Ford

If you have a Ford (or Mazda which I also have but not yet tried it on) this is the most comprehensive DIY package as it handles both the Medium and Low Speed CAN bus so addresses all the auxiliary functions: Door Locks, Trailer Module,Restraint Systems etc. that the more basic scanners do not. Software also appears to work well unlike some other versions. So far as I have tried it does a great job and easier to use than some previous devices I have, which although effective take a lot of in depth knowledge to set up and use. Only criticism is that the switch positions are not marked - you do soon find this out and can add your own labels.Read full review

DOESN'T WORK WITH IPHONE!

I wish I would've checked but it's my stupid fault really, this will not work with an iPhone.

I've given 4 stars as the unit seems good quality and was delivered quickly, you need an android device to use this item. iPhones communicate bluetooth in a strange way which I forgot when I ordered, there are some iPhone ones on the market but unsure if they work.

Difficult to see if my unit is actually working as no lights come on the device etc, but it would be unfair to mark any less than 4* for my mistake. Read full review

Works seamlessly with Forscan and windows 10

Using one of these modified ELM327 usb adaptors and a laptop armed with forscan I was able to do pump and injector learns on my 2007 mk7 transit and, as that was just so easy, went on to code in cruise control and modify the unlock settings with no problems whatsoever. Mucking Farvellous....🤨

Bloody brilliant, managed to regen a DPF that had reached greater than 200% max load and it did it without damaging it (when it got too hot it stopped - it took a couple of attempts to clear it all) step by step instructions in the supplied software made it easy to use for anyone with reasonable automotive know how. Also it seemed to be a much kinder regen program than some of the others I’ve seen keeping revs about 2500 rpm rather than the 4000rpm thrashing I’ve seen on line. End DPF load was sub 10%.
Can’t comment on the other functions but seems fairly comprehensive.
It probably saved me a new DPF and a tankful of BP ultimate during the process seems to have cleared the fuel vaporiser as it is now automatically regenerating again.
