Excellent Value, With Loads Of Features

I bought this sat nav to use with my motorhome, as I wanted something I could enter my unit dimensions into, thereby avoiding low bridges etc. Internet reviews suggest this facility is patchy, at best, but I have yet to test this aspect fully.

I don't, normally, bother with detailed reviews, but I think, if you're spending less than 40 quid for something that some charge up to £300 for, it's good to know if it's any good or not.

On unboxing, it's apparent that this does not feel like a cheap product. It looks and feels like something costing far more. The instructions are pretty simple, and I had the whole thing set up in less than half an hour (and that's with me going through and customising pretty much ever aspect of the unit).

Prior to installation in the motorhome, and use for longer distances, I used this in one of my cars, and tested it locally. Whatever I entered (super markets, petrol stations, restaurants etc) it always found exactly what I was looking for. The speed camera database is spot on, and showed me all the commonly used mobile camera hot spots, as well as the standard fixed units.

The unit was responsive, spot on with positioning and road layouts, and, if I went off route, it corrected and re calculated in less than a second. The large display also makes this unit a pleasure to use. Talking of the display, that is the one thing that lets this sat nav down, just a little. Even on maximum brightness, it is just about adequate. The slightest bit of sun, and it becomes an audio only guide, cos you can forget viewing the screen.

The clip on sun screen is a little flimsy, and awkward to fit, but, once it's on, it's not going anywhere, and it does help a little, in making the screen usable.

This sat nav is as good a basic sat nav as any I have come across. It's ability to guide you on routes based on size of vehicle has come under question, and I'm not able to comment on that, but non of my other sat navs / apps can do that either, so, even if it isn't the best, I won't be losing sleep over it.

The screen looks good, and layouts are customisable, but it could do with being twice as bright as it actually is. My cab is quite dark, with the luton overhead, so I don't see this as ever being an issue, anyway, to be honest.

I've given this product a 5 star rating, because, for the money, you can't fault it, and professional driver I have spoken to advise me it's as good as sat navs they have used costing £300+, although I can't comment on that from personal experience. I'm, also, told this is the same sat nav unit as is fitted in current model Fiat Ducatos, but, again, I have no confirmation of that. What I can say is that it represents excellent value as a sub £40 unit, and I would have no hesitation in buying another one.

NOT WORTH THE POSTAGE!!!!!

CAN'T MAKE IT WORK!!! It has never worked properly and now it has quit altogether. It lost all its programming and nothing is available on line to reload it. I'm not happy!!! Have checked with other owners, forums, web sites and nothing seems to work to reload the programs. Can't get the .exe file to load.Read full review...

Budget sat nav but great

This satnav is a good size and the trip instructions are very clear, if you have a 4x4 some routes can be unpaved which I've used before and it's cut several miles off my journey, it's standard setting is paved only but that can be changed in the settings. It has several different route options which is fantastic (fastest, shortest, greenest and scenic). All in all a fantastic sat nav Read full review...

you wont get lost with the Xgody 7in sat nav a good unit all round

excellent value for money, my last car had tom tom sat nav which was a good system but my latest car had no sat nav so the 7in Xgody was a great find with good clear voice directions plus with the FM antena
built in the unit it allows you to get all voice directions through the car stereo a big bonus if your hearing is
not so good as it was so for around £40.00 you can not go wrong............

Good value

We used the xgody satnav for our motorhome trip recently and it seemed to work well. It took a little while to become familiar with the way it works but it did the job okay. It kept coming up with an error message but I think that is probably an issue we need to correct rather than a fault with it. The anti glare visor is a bit cheap bit having said that for £40 I'm pleased with it.Read full review...

Good sat nav.

If you dont have the volume go to FM settings and untic it. In map settings you need to find colours and make sure it is "auto" other wise it will be pain at night... There is not post code search as well.
Good big screen, detailed maps for "Trucks".
Make sure you put your vehicle dimensions in.
All in all excellent value for mony, takes you whete you need to be!

Sat av

We have had two trips in our motorhome & so far it seems to work ok , the big issue is that the clamps don’t grip it much as it falls to either one side or downwards you really have to tighten them op so not very happy with that side otherwise it works well.Read full review...

Great piece of kit

Been using in a recovery truck hasn't taken me down a wrong road yet. Shows motorway junctions in real time to make lane choice easy. Able to select specific roads or places you want to avoid within your route. Saves driver log times for driving and breaks. Almost bought a garmin until I was suggeted to get this device at 10% of the cost. Well happy with the purchase. Screen can be slightly dim in direct sunlight but a small price to pay for the value for money. *UK based*Read full review...
