Yamaha YFL-221 Flute - Silver

First year, middle school student

Rented a flute for a couple months to ensure the initial interest wouldn't wane. It didn't so I purchased this Yamaha new. It is as good as the higher-end rental my student was using. He is male if that matters. Case is fine and sturdy enough. The carrying case is a big, big help and is also robust.

Don't know much about flutes, but the sound is every bit as good as the high end piece. The teacher gave it a thumbs up as well. Can't think of any reason not to buy this for a beginning student.Read full review

Delighted with the sound

After lots of research and reviews I elected to purchase the Yamaha YFL 221 flute for our daughter who has been playing for almost 4 years (started in 6th grade). I wanted a good flute that wasn't too expensive. Immediately I could hear the difference in sound. This was a huge upgrade from the Bundy flute she has been using.
