Corrodes with salt water use - you get what you pay for.

Purchased this as a starter surf-fishing reel. Looked good when I got it, and it performed well on two beach trips (less than 2 hours of fishing time each trip). Reel was rinsed with fresh water, and cleaned after both outings. The third trip was a different story - action was rough, and could not cast far at all. Partial disassembly revealed rust and corrosion. Buyer beware - May be suitable for fresh water, but would not recommend for salt unless you want to completely disassemble and clean all Internal parts after each saltwater exposure. Accurate title

Took it saltwater off boat for seabass, porgy and blue fishing 10/9/20. Caught over 100 fish. Reel worked as expected no functional issues. What I don't like about it is that the bail sticks out too far and could hit you as you reel the fish in. Took some getting used to.Read full review

Smooth Drag with big fish!

On first examination I found this reel to feel tight and solid and light weight. I paired it with a medium weight 6' rod with 50lb test braided line. It casted well and felt good on retrieve so I took it to the Gulf Coast for it's first fishing trip. I used it with a popping cork with DOA shrimp for large red drum. I was fishing from my kayak and need a reel that is dependable and stable.

I caught many fish with this reel including a large bull red approximately 25 inches . The drag was very smooth and easily adjusted. The retrieve was fast and worked well with the braided line. I used this reel the whole week and did not experience fatigue from reel weight. I recommend this reel for fishing many situations.Read full review

Reel seat too flexible.

The reel looks good but once installed on the rod, it flexes and twist a lot. This reel is only good for up to a 10 lb fish. Poor design.

Unfortunately I purchased two of these CY6000 before trying to put line on the spool with tension.
