Great but could be better

I have found this to be a very good small Blu-ray DVD player it’s size is clearly a bonus as I never did like big and bulky separate units as they look a bit dated, The only fault I have with it is it no longer has a display screen on the front of it which was handy to visually see how far through a film you are without having to pick up the remote this can only be down to keeping costs down but this doesn’t detract from the feature laden unit itself, for the money it is a great little unit.Read full review...

Panasonic BluRay hic-cup, but...

Great BluRay player and compact design... I know they are pitched at a very good price and corners had to be cut to get the price down, but, BUT no front panel display! However, the main problem the only audio out is via the HDMI out. Very BAD. I had to purchase an HDMI audio extractor so I could feed an outboard audio amplifier and speakers. For gawd sake, how much extra would it have cost to put a couple of RCA audio outs on the back panel! So, only three stars because of the missing audio outs and the missing display! These days I only ever purchase Panasonic consumer electronics as I have found them fault free and generally well made; this one is the first hic-cup... but will let them off a little because they were obviously chasing a price break! Great Little Blu-Ray Player

Wanted a Blu-ray player to attach to my 4K tv, this is not a native 4K player but has the ability to upscale your standard Blu-Rays image to 4K and this player does a very good job of doing this.
This small but well designed player does not upscale DVD's to 4K but is capable of playing them, the player is a UK version (region 2 dvd region B blu-ray) it is possible to unlock the regions to make it multi region.
It has smart features but as my tv is also has smart features, I have not attached this player to the Internet wired connection required as it is not WiFi enabled.
Remote works well and is compact as is the player.
Overall I would recommend this player, look it up on the Web you won't be disappointed.

Excellent player. Does what it says on the tin!

Excellent value Blu-Ray player. 3D and networking works perfectly (no WiFi, hard wired only). It is much smaller than I expected, so perfect if you have limited space. The menu layout is the usual Panasonic weirdness, not a show stopper for me. All in all good product if you are looking for something that lands just under today's 4K spec. The 4K up-scaling is good. The remote is tiny though and has a separate Netflix button, which is handy. The Netflix button location directly above the up directional button is unfortunate and has led to many an accidental launch of Netflix. Audio worked as expected, DTS and Dolby respective HD works great!Read full review...

Quality Blu-ray on a budget price.

Easy set up. Easy menu to operate. The picture is incredible especially when used with a 4K television. The sound quality is excellent.
Also included are smart features such as Netflix. It does not have Wi-Fi connectivity but it has an ethernet port at the back. Connection to your television is through an HDMI cable.
All this for in a Blu-ray DVD player for under £100. What's not too like. It gives some of the more costlier models a run for the money. You won't be disappointed.

Not what I thought it was

When I seen 4k on the blu ray player I thought it played 4k blu ray discs.
It doesn't. I felt cheated, but I have only myself to blame.
It plays disks and good picture quality but no different from a normal blu ray player.
Read all the features first before buying. That's the way I'll be doing it from here on.
Happy enough with it now.

Great player

Image quality is brilliant and it’s easy to set up and use. It has more features than I would use - but you might.

Panasonic Blueray player.

Good quality picture but not easy to get used to, even more frustrating is the poor remote control
which does not alway work, sometimes you can press it upto half a dozen times without anything
happening, also not happy with how it interferes with my TV. Wish now I'd have purchased just a
DVD player for much less money.

A minimalist Bluray & DVD player with excellent upscaling

If you're after a basic Bluray & DVD player mainly to play discs and don't require hundreds of smart apps, WiFi or the ability to play the latest UHD/4K discs then this player could be ideal.

Since our Samsung K5500 40" 1080p Smart TV already has many of those features this player was perfect.

The unit itself is small and lightweight - mostly black plastic but with a nice metal looking finish. The remote sits nicely in the hand and all the buttons are well placed.
The player boots up quickly, the menus are clear and responsive.
There's ample choices to customize the picture and sound format - this isn't a difficult machine to setup.
4:3 content can either be letterboxed (with black bands) or forced fullscreen.

The player upscales DVD & standard definition content to a much higher quality than our 10 year old Sony DVP-NS708H - both the sound and picture are noticeably improved.
I've played region-free NTSC discs @ 720x480 and PAL discs @ 720x576 which I've burnt without issue.
I've had no issues playing MKV files from the USB port located at the front; my NTFS formatted USB stick played both h264/MPEG4-AVC videos and MPEG2 content i.e. DVD's ripped with MakeMKV.
As expected h265/HEVC files won't play properly.
I haven't tried obsolete formats like XVID and DIVX.
No issues with Bluray playback either; I've tried multiple discs everything from the Godfather to Ghostbusters loads quickly and plays perfectly.

For this price with a 12 month warranty it can't really be faulted plus the latest firmware was already applied.

The only possible downsides are a lack of audio connections (just 1 HDMI output) and the fact the player is region locked (DVD: Region 2 | Bluray: Region B)

Since Bluray discs are inexpensive and often region-free there's no real reason to stick to standard definition if you have the choice.
