Classic volume on the history of horror movies…
One of the classic volumes on the history of horror movies (right up there with similar studies by Carlos Clarens and William K. Everson). I owned this book when it first came out (I was in high school at the time and probably pored over it while listening to Bowie’s “Diamond Dogs” lp from the same year).
I am happy to have obtained a replacement copy at a good price…
Though the written analysis may not go as deep as other books on the subject, this publication makes up for it by being adorned with a wealth of great photos (many of them in color). That and the nostalgia factor alone make this book is a must-have for any fan of classic horror…Read full review

An Out 0f Print Treasure
Denis Gifford is a very compelling writer and has a consummate knowledge of his subject matter.
It is a shame this tome is out of print, as I trust younger generations would really enjoy being exposed to horror films that were made long before they were born, yet are still relatable and influential.Read full review
