Accurate rain gauge

This rain gauge took some effort and time to set up, but it seems to work great! We got 5" of rain the day it arrived, so wasn't able to use it yet. It can't be in a covered area or under a tree. You have to set it up on a stand or deck railing or some type of stand so it can measure accurately. Mine is on a piece of wood nailed on top of a fence post. We had .59" of rain the day after it was set up and .04" another day. I enjoy knowing how much rain we actually did receive, since the "official" rain amount is at the airport. The day we got 5-7" in the city, the official rain at the airport was .60". The official amount can vary greatly from one part of the city to another and I can see the actual amount from the comfort of my home. I like the self- empty feature too. The unit has to be calibrated during the set-up process. One less star because of set up process.Read full review

Lightweight with great features !

This rain gauge works well and reading the amounts of rain is far better then LaCross weather station. Its priced right, but the plastic is thin. Hope the plastic holds up to heat and sun.

Easy to use, convienant, inexspensive and accurate.

I purchased this unit to replace the current Edmonds Scientific unit I have currently been using to report local rain fall on the Internet. This unit audibly alarms a warning when a rain fall begins, gives warning of possible flood conditions, gives a history that is easily accessible. I am currently changing the date code on the unit to match up with our daily recording system that records from 07:00am to 07:00am each day. All was quite easy. All I have left to do is check for acuracy of the unit which is explained with the instructions. I really like being able to check current rain fall with out having to go outside as with my older unit.

Well made and looks High tech

I like it and works as stated. With one major design flaw. It is very hard to read in certain lights.
It seriously needs a backlight on the screen. A dc power supply would also help

I bought this to replace our worn out Oregon Scientific gauge. So far I much prefer it. The collector is well sealed. The batteries are a snap to install and the collector comes apart easily. This will make it much easier to service.
The display is large an the settings are straight forward.
