Works great on thicker aluminum too
I needed to cut several thicknesses of 6061 aluminum for a project- some was 3/8" thick plate (4.25" wide) while the other was a 1.5" thick bar. I was looking at buying a $200 low RPM 14" dry saw to do it and then read some reviews on this one. My saw is an older Delta miter saw that spins around 5400 RPM. I made a test cut on a 1x2 piece of scrap wood and it cut perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to see the thicker 1.5" bar cut fast, smooth, and cool- it was barely warm. Ditto the 3/8 plate. The photo I attached shows the bar with a prior cut via an abrasive blade- which wore out before it finished, so the remainder (crooked) was cut using a sawzall. The straight edge was cut using this blade as was the larger 3/8 plate under it.
I'd recommend this blade for cutting aluminum. It's a great alternative to dropping $200+ on another saw.Read full review
