Works great in mult-unit communication

I bought these to replace some older BRK detectors that were inter-wired to alert all the rooms. These newer models are directly compatible and still "talk" to older units. The wiring plug is the same, but I had to change the plastic mounting ring (supplied) because it is different than older BRK.Read full review

Replaces old First Alert detectors well

I bought this to replace old smoke detectors that have been going off randomly, probably because they were old
(> 10 years) and dirty. We were required to install them during a remodel, and I wouldn't recommend the system for new installations.

However, if you need to replace old detectors on an established system, these new units are good replacements.Read full review

BRK 9129B Smoke Alarm

The product arrived on time, and was very easy to install. The nice feature is you don't have to remove the alarm to change the battery. There is a small door on the side that holds the battery, and you don't to plug it in. This is a great alarm.Read full review

How do you review?

It was easy to install, fit the screws from my old unit that kept going off for moisture. Ok, it's up there now, I'm not going to start a fire to see if it works well. It hasn't gone off after opening the steamy shower door near by, that's a plus but No way to say yes it works perfect unless I have a fire.Read full review

Limited lifespan alarms

The BRK9120B is as advertised, yet realize it has a definite working lifespan. The useful life of the alarm is touted as 10 years due to contamination. In my dusty 'man cave' house they last about 5 years. Monthly vacuuming and periodic battery replacement is specified but they start 'chirping' - keeping me wake - no matter what prevention maintenance I apply. So I replace them.Read full review
