This 5-point level has earned its longstanding good reputation: well-designed, rugged, easy to use, good workmanship.

FWIW, I called Bosch and asked about the differences between the GPL5 / 5e / etc. - upgrades/new designs/??? Was told that the base unit is the same and the letter suffix denotes what accessories came packaged with a unit. Doesn't seem to make sense to me but I have no way to double-check it. No matter for us...our "base level" GPL5 (no suffix) does exactly what we need.Read full review

“Upgrade”

“Upgraded” from the 3 point to the 5 point. It worked great for the first couple uses and then just flashed the next time I went to use it. Knowing it was on a level surface I switched the batteries and that wasn’t the case either. Laser was never dropped or mistreated. Kind of an expensive tool to have issues with it on the 3rd use. 20 yrs builder

I bought one for my company, then 3 more. I have since sold the business and now purchased this one for my personal project. I used it to check the level of my concrete floor in 30 locations, and the same with the bottom of the above floor joists. Best on dimmer or cloudy conditions, but usable on brighter days with a dark colored "target" to "walk the dot" in order to find the desired location. Very good product for the money. VERY IMPORTANT to keep the self leveling gyroscope LOCKED when not in use due to it's fragility. They are easily cracked, I learned the hard way, but thankfully at my last employers expense. And this Bosch GLP5 is almost as good as his $600 Hilti. Great product!! Read full review

Great for construction

I used it in the Caribbean during the construction of our house and it worked great. Otherwise there would have been a very significant slope (3") between the front and the back of the house.
