Useful Guitar Gadget

One of those things that you could live without, but handy to have when the need arises.

The clippers are good, but I don't know how long they'll last in the long run against steel strings. But they'd eat up nylon for years. Have not tried the peg puller, but looks like it would do the trick.

The speed winder saved my life recently. I had to re-string a nylon, and the previous person had wrapped the whole length of the string around the pegs, 10 to 15 turns each. The owner wanted to keep the strings intact, so no cutting. The speed winder saved my poor wrist and fingers a lot of work. And it was helpful on the restringing as well.

Up to each person to decide if this works for them. If I didn't have it, I'd just carry some good wire cutters in the gig bag, and that would be fine too.

"String cutter" doesn't work

Having lost my small wire cutters right out of my guitar case to airport "security", I was in the market for a travel pair when I saw this product. Great idea, having all the string changing tools in one 'swiss army knife' style gadget, but when I went to cut the plain strings at my first string change after purchase, the string cutter just bent them; didn't cut thru at all. It cut thru the wound strings, but didn't cut thru the plain ones.(017,013 .010). Had to get a pair of wire cutters from the garage to finish the job. Only good thing is I almost bought two of these because it seemed like such a good idea! Doesn't work; not recommended!Read full review...

Why did I wait so long?

After playing a guitar for over 50 years, I dreaded changing my strings because of the hassle. I learned of the Pro

Winder by accident and decided to purchase it. Wow, changing strings was an absolute pleasure. The winder is easy to use and the all-in-one feature of the string clipper and peg remover makes it an awesome tool. Now that I have the winder, I will change my strings more frequently.Read full review...

An all in one for aiding you in changing your guitar strings

I am new to the world of guitars. And so when it was time to change my electric guitar strings out and watching countless Youtube How-to videos, I came upon this string winder. It had everything I needed to help me change my strings out .... wire cutter, string winder, and etc. It definitely made it a whole lot easier then having to find a wire cutter and wind each string by hand. I would highly recommend this tool for anyone needing to change their strings.Read full review...

Can't cut strings

I have one from years ago and what is the best thing is it cut the extra string off. I have the cheap winders and for years I wound the strings with my fingers. Cutting off the thin strings was hard, they slip between the blades. That what happened with these. They fit nicely in my junk draw. I hate taking my good wire cutter to gigs because tools grow legs and are off forever. I will look for a quality string cutter.Read full review...

If you're a guitar player, this is a must own!

What can I say - Made in the USA.

I'm proud to own this, more importantly, this thing rocks as a guitar multi-tool.

This is a solid tool and every single guitar player on the planet is really lacking without one of these fine Made in the USA guitar tools.

Step up, use what a pro uses and for goodness sakes, don't be cheap. Just buy it and use it. Simple words of experience here... you get what you pay for and this thing is not some el cheapo made in China piece of junk. For the money it's a really decent little tool.

Save time, effort and doinkin around squirreling about when you're restringing or doing a full setup! Hint to all with a Floyd Rose... get a Tremolo Block to speed your life up and get in tune fully set up with this tool in under 15 minutes.

Kindest love to all, Hammer.

Works, but not elegant

Cheaply made but effective. Bypass style cutter cuts strings easily, but has a stiff pivot and no spring return, so you have to pull the pliers apart between cuts. Winder is attached to pliers with a single screw and a rubber washer, and doesn't rotate smoothly -- you can tighten it, in which case it squeaks and is hard to turn, or loosen it to get rid of the squeak, in which case it's wobbly. On the plus side, it's small, light weight, and does the job.Read full review...

One of the better manual string winders

The winder head is shallow enough to protect the sides of my headstock better than other manual winders I have used. I first encountered one when I helped a friend do a hasty string change before performing, and liked it enough to buy one for myself. Within two weeks I needed it for my own hasty string change. Recomended!Read full review...

what a great little product

I resisted buying one of these for a long time, I figured it's just not necessary, I can just use my fingers to turn the tuning peg and pull the bridge pins and cut strings with a small side cutter. Finally I picked one up on sale and strung up two of my guitars immediately. It's nice to have everything in one compact little tool. Cuts like butter, winds the strings off and on way faster than by hand and the pin puller is nifty. Did I need it? No, but it speeds up the process of stringing up my guitars.Read full review...
