Brand new with cables...
The card is brand new and is a great option for a budget system at home. You can easily cross flash this card as an LSI MEGARAID (SAS2008 chipset) and use it as a passthru card and no RAID options. This will also give you a queue depth of 600 instead of the Dell 25. The single cable that comes with can connect two drives. Nice card.Read full review

Great card to flash to IT mode for direct device addressing.
This is exactly what I needed... sort of. This card runs a SAS2008 controller, which is shares by the LSI 9211 controller. I had to flash this card with the LSI firmware so that I could run it in IT mode in order to run a low-level format on a bunch of hard drives to change the logical sector from 520 to 512, which makes the drives I had acquired compatible with normal SAS controllers. It worked exactly as advertised, and will be a great tool for myself in the future.Read full review

Works perfectly
This thing has a great reputation for a reason! Flashed to LSI firmware.
I had to put a piece of electrical tape over two of the pcie pins to get my RAM to work with this card. It's apparently a well documented, but uncommon problem. Easy fix and the card works perfectly!Read full review

Used as a HBA in older workstation to achieve 6GB/s speeds.
The controller works good as is but alternative firmware used to "dumb down" the controller and remove raid functions.
Perfect for speeding up an older computer with 3GB/s SATA.
SSD now get over 550MB/s speeds and before getting half of that.
On the negative side the firmware take a long time to boot.

Fast and reliable
Great RAID controller. The only two things to consider are that using it adds some boot time to the BIOS and the heat sink runs very hot, but so far (about 1 month) it has been rock solid.

Great value
Does the same job of controllers two or three times the cost of one of these.
Using mine in a server that required re-flashing of the firmware (unRaid) and the flashing went without a hitch (well... without any hitches I didn't cause.) So far have two drives running off this controller, so there's plenty of room for expansion, and they are running smoothly. Read full review

Great Deal
You may have to cover or shave pins off on this just google it if your computer wont boot or boot loops. It also may only be able to be used in your 16x pci-e slot. Worth if for me in a headless unraid server. Flashing did not go according to the online guides but did flash to IT mode and supported over 2tb drives!

Great solution for unRAID users
I got two of these cards to replace a Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 which in some cases can result in parity errors. These cards need to have their firmware updated to run with unRAID but that is a reasonably easy process.
Overall happy with my purchase.Read full review

TrueNAS 12 - works great!
Plugged it in, connected the drives. Bios does not see them during boot sequence but they were there in TrueNAS ready to get dropped into a pool. It was easy and flawless.
