Superb Little Lens!!

This little compact lens is superbly sharp and has no faults, that I can detect, in image quality. Bought to pair up with my newly acquired Fuji XT30 as a "grab and go" second camera the performance is far better than I was expecting. It's compact "pancake" size is ideal for keeping the camera small and less bulky...just what I was looking for!!

The only thing I miss as an aperture priority shooter is the lack of an aperture ring. This is to be expected as the lens is so small it couln't support one! Easy to get used to the front command dial to changing aperture. Pancake Lens convert

This little lens transforms my XT1. The optics are good but it is the shear minimalist size and weight that appeal. I carried my camera on a long walk yesterday and hardly noticed it but the pictures afterwards even at dusk were superb. There are times when one wants big lenses and that will always be the case but this lens will stay on my camera the rest of the time. I would highly recommend it. Perfect pancake

Having been so used to being able to get good pancake lenses when I was shooting with Pentax, it was a real disappointment to have practically no choice for Nikon full-frame cameras. Consequently, while looking around for a lighter weight alternative, I came across the Fuji X range and was pleased to see that not only did they have one, but it was at my preferred walkabout focal length of 40ish and has a justified reputation for good image quality. Lightweight compact high-performance lens for general street photography

This is an excellent lens for contrast and definition, it's weaknesses are a little barrel distortion if you are too close to subjects with linear features; and of course it isn't fast. But with decent sensors of Fuji compacts, increasing the ISO value one step compensates for one lens stop in speed, so the f2.8 maximum aperture becomes irrelevant. The real reason for buying this lens is its physical size. It is so small it's almost a pancake. For carrying around in a pocket and for street photography it's the perfect compact lens and, I think, the best compromise in focal length. So if you're into street photography or for general work in a city it's a brilliant all-round lens to fit and forget - an excellent performer and fantastic value for money.Read full review

Performs way better than it looks like it might!

The image quality on offer for such a tiny and light lens is extraordinary. Even though only f2.8 opening, out of focus is still smooth and undistracting. Resolution is good enough for detailed landscape work, but the form factor makes it ideal also as a walk around lens when travelling light. AF is quick. I'm giving 5 stars because any 'downsides' by way of no weathersealing and the modest maximum aperture are built into the price and you know that when you buy it.Read full review
