Great sense of replay!

This game has amazing graphics that the Final Fantasy series continues to deliver throughout its history. This game has a wide variety of side quests so if you are the type of gamer that likes a lot, (and I do me a lot) of side quests then this game is for you! There are several new functions with X-2. There are numerous sphere dresses that can be acquired throughout the game which enables your characters to become a Black Mage which allows you to cast Black Magic or you can get a White Mage dress sphere which allows you to cast White Magic. Don’t think these are the only two…….. There are lots and lots more to be found through out your adventure! The battle system in my point of view has changed dramatically from one person attack to several attacking without having to wait for the ATB gauge to fill up. When you complete the game don’t think it is over yet. If you want to get the super secret ending then you have to get 100 percent at the end which means that you get to carry over your items, key items etc. over to your new game file. The only thing that doesn’t transfer however is your level and stats.Read full review...

Final Fantasy X-2 "WALK THROUGH"

THIS GAME IS TOTAL BLAST. HERE IS SOME TIPS YOU SHOULD DO FROM THE VERY START!

WALK THROUGH FOR FINAL FANTASY X-2 FOR PS2

.::STORY LEVEL 1::.

Mission 1
---------

After the first CG scene, there will be a battle between Paine and Rikku
against Yuna. Defeat her and she'll run away from the stage. Now, you'll be
in control of Rikku. Chase after Yuna. You'll notice that Paine will be chasing
her as well. Few soldiers will be in your path. Take them down. An easy job
if you're a FF player. Remember to take a left turn at a junction to the
harbour to meet with a moogle. It'll heal your HP. After a few rounds of
battle, another scene will take place. The REAL Yuna will be introduced. A
plump guy (Uno) and a tall guy (Sano) will battle with you. Defeat them with
ease. Now who's the FAKE Yuna? The FAKE Yuna is actually a sphere hunter's
group leader known as Le Blanc. She reveals herself and another battle will
occur. Defeat her and you have completed your first mission.

Mission 2
---------
By this time, you are back on board of Celcius. Talk to everyone on your plane.
Do not FORGET about the guy at the resting area in your airship. Take the lift
to the resting section and talk to him. After talking, emergency lights will
go on. Head back to the cockpit. Click on the mission link and off you go for
your second mission. you'll be dropped off from Celcius on top of a big shiny
ruin. A scene will occur. After that, just follow the trail and go down the
stairs. See the shiny blue switch on the wall? Activate it and you'll fall to
the lower ground. Make your way down the cliff and climb up again on the cliff
situated at the right corner of the screen. Proceed to the open area. What a
surprise? The Le Blanc group is here again. After the talking scene with them,
Boss fight!

-|Bosses ~ Le Blanc, Uno & Sano|- Level 3
Le Blanc's HP: 120
MP: 320
Uno's HP: 130
MP: 10
Sano's HP: 100
MP: 25
This is an easy battle. Just finish off Uno, followed by Sano and lastly, Le
Blanc. Remember to cast blind unto them using the Singer/Dancer dress if you
want to avoid their physical attacks. Keep attacking and healing at the same
time. They can't do much harm to you.

After the battle, a time limit of 6:00 mins have been set for you to get them.
Now, head straight to grab a treasure chest, then turn back, do not ascend the
pillar as there is nothing up there. Notice that there's a platform to get over
to the other tower. By pressing the action button, jump over to the other side.
Head to the entrance. Sano will appear with a group of soldiers. Defeat them.
Now go into the tower. Look at the map, there'll be a left and right junction.
Activate both the switches. This will lower the platform for you to climb on.
Go back to the straight route and run after them. You should be in the open
area now after exiting the tower. Go around the tower. Go on top of the fallen
pillar and jump across to the other section. Climb up the tower and you'll
notice a save point. If you reach the Le Blancs on time, you'll see them
clinging on to a cliff. Grab the item in the treasure chest and head up.
Another scene will occur. Boss fight!

-|Boss ~ Bory Spider|- Level 4
HP: 804 (Oversoul)
MP: 0
Depending whether the spider is oversouled or not. If not, it's quite easy to
beat. Just keep on healing with potions and maintain a good timing of attack.
GOOD LUCK!

FFX-2 is a good RPG, but not as good as FFX

Pros:
FinalFantasyX-2 is a good RPG. It has everything that you would expect from a Final Fantasy title. The beautiful cut scenes and bigger than life boss battles both can be found here in abundance. At the center of the game is the 'dress sphere' system. A particular dress sphere represents a particular character class. There are many classes to choose from, and changing classes/outfits in mid-battle is pretty cool.

Cons:
The story in FFX-2 is a continuation of the FFX, so only those who played FFX will know what's going on. Also, the game gets rid of the awesome creature summoning from FFX. Also, many of the locations in FFX-2 are recycled from FFX.

The Game was CUTE, but Pretty Disappointing

When I first saw the teasing trailer, i was about to fall to the floor and die. I wanted the game so bad, and it was all i thought about while i was in School. I even visited their website on a number of occasions. well, my dramatic acts were all for nothing. Its like waiting for santa to come down the chimney to give you a toy, but instead gives you a pile of crap.

The reason i gave it a low rating, was because this game did NOT CONCENTRATE on Yuna's mission. It barely explained anything. Yuna was ALWAYS distracted, someone was always in trouble, someone always needed her to do something, she was always in some kind of tournament or running errands. I mean this game should have been called "Final Fantasy X-2: Sidequest", becuase 80% of the game was just sidequests, had NOTHING to do with the storyline.

Yuna goes through a HUGE transformaton. she goes from this goodie two shoe I-must-follow-the-teachings-of-Yeavon down to earth Summoner, to this pop-singing, skin-revealing Sphere Hunter. she hopes to find these spheres that would explain why her beloved Tidus disappears or maybe hopes to find him again. She's more energetic, she's still loved by the people, you may encounter a few who believe her fame days are over and wont even bother giving her the special treatment or respect.

The reason i say her missions barely have anything to do with the story is becuase she finds all these spheres and almost every one of them is a disappointment, except for one she found in Kilika of Shuyin. THAT sphere was a pretty good one, why couldnt they find more spehere like that one?

I wanted to know more about Shuyin, I wanted to Know more about Lenne and WHY they had such a strong connection to Yuna and Tidus, besides the dressphere she wore. They should have gave Yuna another dream where she woke up as Lenne and had the story shift into THEIR time and see how their lives were portrayed. I really wanted to know just STUFF about them, how did they meet! how did Lenne do in battle?

They do introduce some new characters such as Paine, LeBlanc, Logos, Ormi, Barilai, Nooj and Gippal. It would be nice if they made a seperate game for Baralei, Nooj and Gippal.

YOu can revist some places from the first Series and even speak to the same characters. the music wasnt really all that great, the moonflow song made me want to go crazy.

I have to admit, i did enjoy the battle system, the girls have a handful of dressphers to choose from, so i enjoyed all the different kinds of magic and transformations.

Yuna can play blitzball, but you can't control her, or anyone for that matter

there are 4 endings depending on what you do during the game.

There is a plus game, meaning you'll get to keep all your goodies you found and worked hard for.

The game was bascially just a charlie's angel type. three girls on random missions. *sigh*

Square/Enix surprised me with such a great sequel

I have to admit that when I first heard that Square was going to make a sequel to one of it's FF games that I was a little skeptical. I had even more doubts when I found out that Tidus was absent from the game and Yuna had taken over as the main character. I bought the game anyway and decided to give it a chance. Here's what I thought:
This game ties in so much with the origanal FFX. Trust me, if you didn't play the original FFX all the way through then you'll be lost in this game. It's amazing how Sqare made the events from FFX tie into this game so much.

Now for the battle system. As you already know, the battle system changes on each Final Fantasy game. On this one the characters use dresspheres (jobs) and they can change jobs during the battle. The combat is non-linear, which means multiple characters can attack all at once to increase damage. There's no more attack-be attacked-attack patterns. Another huge difference is the absence of aeons (remember they were destroyed at the end of FFX). Believe me, once you get into the game you won't mind there not being any aeons. The ATB system has also been brought back to FFX-2.

As for the storyline I have to honestly say that it's incredible. Almost as good as FF8 and FF7. Yuna becomes a sphere hunter and on a journey to find Tidus. The great thing about the story of this game is that so many different things can happen depending on what decisions you make. In Chapter 2 of the game you will make a decision that will determine most of the events to occur in the rest of the game. There's also a completion percentage in the game and you can view various endings depending on how much of the game you completed.

As for the sound, it's slightly above average. It's not as good as FF7-10 but it's not nearly as horrible as FFTA. Some of the tunes are nice while others are annoying.

The replayability of this game is one of its biggest assets. This game is designed so that different events occur depending on the decisions you make. You can play the game more than once to experience different outcomes. This game also lets you start a "New Game Plus". This means that you can carry over the items, gil, accesories, dresspheres, abilities, etc. that you had in your first game. Oh yeah your levels don't carry over to your new game, so don't think you're going to get god-like characters that easily. I've beaten it once and I'm definitely playing it again to get all the things I missed in my first game.

The sidequests/mini-games in FFX-2 are immense. This game has more mini-games than ANY other FF title before. That adds a lot to the overall plot of the game and this game has a challenging 100-floor dungeon called Via Infinito for veteran FF players. Believe me this place IS A REAL CHALLENGE. I still have yet to beat it. There's so many various rewards and great accesories to be acquired by doing the sidequests.

Overall this is a great game. I saw some of the other 1 sentence reviews where people said this game sucks because Tidus isn't here. You can tell that they obviously haven't played the game and show their ignorance with those simple-minded reviews. I recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of RPG games. Also you need to play FFX if you haven't already or else you'll be confused with this game.

4 out of 5 to any avid RPG fan it should be a delight.

After I completed Final Fantasy X and immensely enjoyed it,
I thought I would thoroughly enjoy FFX-2.
But shortly after playing it I found out that this game was not exactly the greatest - seems like they pushed it out of the factory a little too early.

The story is OK at best.
Some of the gameplay is here and there but generally good.

I personally would only recommend this game if you are a truly hardcore Final Fantasy Fan and want to learn more of the original game's story.

This game takes place after the events of Final Fantasy X. You have a team of heroines. The great part about this game is that it sticks to the original Final Fantasy X fighting style. Where as games like FF12 & 13 differed away from that style. This is classic gameplay.

It is a 4 out of 5
not highly recommendable, but to any avid RPG fan it should be a delight.

Underrated

You'll hear a lot about how terrible this game is, but it isn't. If you've been playing Final Fantasy games as long as I have, you will respect this game for daring to be original.

It is a game you have mixed odds of liking. You have to understand exactly what you're getting into first. If you expect more of the same from FFX, you will be very disappointed. However, for what it is, without being compared to anything else, it is rather exceptional, and is perhaps the best game in the Final Fantasy series.

The main story path is rather short. You could probably finish it in 10 hours if you pushed a bit. However, the main path accounts for a relatively small portion of the game. There is so much optional content that you will easily get as much out of X-2 as any other game in the series if you try for it all.

The story itself is based mostly around characters and revisiting the world to see how it's changed. The conflict isn't particularly epic and the villain isn't very threatening. The game's tone is extremely happy-go-lucky. That's not to say anything is wrong with that. In fact, I'd go so far as to call it uplifting even.

The dressphere system is a fairly neat take on the classic job system developed for FFV. Since you can switch classes on the fly, there's no need for the game to include more than three characters (Don't let people tell you that's a weakness. It isn't.). That gives plenty of time to focus on powering up those characters and figuring out ways to use them effectively.

Combat itself is fast-paced and more fun than any other game that uses the ATB system. The new combo system allows you to string moves together for massive damage, and even stop an enemy's attack. Learn to use the system and it's pretty rewarding, especially against some of the tougher optional bosses.

FFX-2 also has the most replay value of any FF game, due to the fact that it requires multiple playthroughs to see everything thanks to its branching story paths. It is literally impossible to see everything in a single game, and it's very difficult to see the best ending if you just play through it once.

All in all, it's a very good package unless you're a whiny teenager who has to see a heavy dose of angst in his games and hates anything with bright colors out of some retarded fear of being associated with anything immature people might see as childish.

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU!?!

Okay, Final Fantasy X-2 is without a doubt one of the weirdest final fantasy games out there. But weird is not always bad...The game features a catchy poppy soundtrack, The graphics are good although the "Fan-service" is heavy and at times seems phoned in and lame, but it features a great on the fly job changing system and great battle mechanics. If you are a game player for the story steer clear of this one it's about as coherent as an 11 year old's fan fiction. If you're a J-pop junkie like me and looking for a fun game your girlfriend (like mine) will enjoy playing with you / watching you play than give this a shot. It's worth ten bucks for a used copy but I would have been disappointed paying $59.99 for this when it came out. All in all if you're looking for a fun light hearted RPG for casual play you'll be pleasantly surprised by X-2.Read full review...

First Sequal is a HIT

If you liked any of the Final Fantasy, this is another home run hit. Rather than copy and paste you information, just know that this is another beautiful complex story style RPG game with great CGI and 60+ hours of game play. The only quirk is that this game came out right after Charlie's Angel the movie. This has a very Charlies Angel feel to it right from the start.

Pros:
1) Great Story
2) Self Contained finish to the story (Would be nice to play FFX first since this is the FIRST sequal to Final Fantasy ever)
3) Beautiful CGI

Cons:
1) Long hours to power up player
2) Harder to beat without fully exploring everything. I suggest you get a guide if you want to spend less time and enjoy the story of the game.

I wish I had never picked it up

Against the warnings of my friend Allie, I decided to play her copy Final Fantasy X-2. I was thinking something along the lines of "Well, I liked Final Fantasy X. It can't be THAT bad, can it?" The answer is, YES. IT CAN.

I only managed to get a few hours into the game before I had to give up in disgust. Gone was the epic storyline of Final Fantasy X. And the character development, and the strategic gameplay, and any semblance of self-respect.

Yuna and Rikku have somehow transformed into sluttier versions of themselves in the course of a year or whatever it was. All the fluff and rainbows that seemed to be Spira in FFX is back, and this time without the amazing plot twists that reveal the true face of things.

The battle system is okay, but I found myself simply using the "Attack" command constantly in favor of more complicated or strategic tactics. I also didn't like the "sink or swim" aspect of it, where the game throws you into battle without so much as an explanation of how to choose things on the menu. The dresspheres were a cool idea, though, and I somewhat enjoyed seeing YRP's myriad sets of clothing and all the different class options.

Many of the locations and character models are simply recycled from Final Fantasy X. This is to the point where Wakka is supposed to have gained weight, but looks exactly the same, and Lulu is wearing a corset while pregnant (!).

I'm really sorry I ever played the game. My friend Allie said that she would trade it in, but is too embarrassed to be seen owning it. I unfortunately agree.
