Great stuff but don’t rush it!

Slightly tricky to work with, particularly if you’re wanting it to look neat - not a job you can rush. I was doing a small motorbike exhaust and wanted it to be tidy, took me about an hour including masking up the edges, removing loose rust etc. Apply to cold exhaust. I allowed a good 24hrs to dry including running the engine at tickover for 5mins.

It’s like stringy thick blu-tac. It dries a dull silver / light grey colour (lighter than it is when you take the lid off the pot).

Use PVC gloves. To tidy up the edges, lick your finger and manipulate in to place. Works really well, thoroughly recommended.

what ?

Last time I had to repair an exhaust was over 20 years ago, and it worked then ? Is this the same product ? I remember it as being effective. This is just awful. It does not stick to anything, including itself, It arrived in a fused mass that would only come apart with force and then most of the backing came off, hard to tell what was the back and what was the front. Repair was in a tricky place and it need to stick to itself just a little bit but no chance.Read full review...

A useful expedient......

This "emergency bandage" has been on the market for many years and works well if an exhaust system develops a gas leak before the MOT test is due. Ideally it should be used in conjunction with Holts Firegum for ease of assembly and longevity, this paste is not included in the package, there is only a length of thin wire.Read full review...

Cheap repair

The last time I used this product was over 30 years ago and it worked fine then which is why I have bought it now as I have some holes in the tailpipe of my old Suzuki Jimny. In view of rubbish weather, however I have postponed repair to avoid pneumonia. I will report back after I have used it to report on any changes to product quality.Read full review...

Sets hard... Beware

This bandage sets hard with heat as it says, but how it is stored matters. Mine arrived set rock solid, could not tear apart. Lots of water to soften.but does say do not soak. Will it still be effective? time will tell. BETTER out there off shelf I'm sure.

Complete sh**. Don't waste your time and money.

Short slim moist bandage that doesn't stick. I Filled my split flexi gauze on downpipe with full tub of gun gum then covered that with the foil then wrapped it with two of these then three Granville exhaust bandage but exhaust fumes blew through all three within minutes of starting & allowing car to tick over. Granville product started sagging once heat got to it. So all three products are complete sh** & a waste of time & money.Read full review...

I used it when I was poor and I used it when I had no option to, but I am pleased.

When I was in my 20s and had my first car, this was the go to exhaust "repair". I wouldn't normally use it now though as it can only really be considered a temporary repair, but that is exactly what I needed when I couldn't get to the garage because of Covid-19.

I needed to have a section of stainless steel exhaust tube replaced . Fortunately, the outer exhaust shield is still intact and the break is inside, so wrapping this around has given a strong repair. I am not sure how well it would do on a piece of pipe that had completely come away, but it has to be worth a try if you are stuck I guess.
