Hornby R070 Electric Motorised Turntable

Interesting addition to layout with some engineering challenges

I have read a lot of reviews about this product and would like to add these points.
It is very noisy on high power. Keep the voltage below 50%
Connecting track on a slope if used on a flat surface, creates a few issues when mounting on a layout.
There seems to be a variation in build quality. Mine seems to work fine in tests. Not installed in layout yet. reports of jamming from trusted reviewers (see Sam's trains review on Youtube). For the money | paid I am more than happy.Read full review

Looks very much like a toy and will need serious cosmetic work to make it look otherwise, and to blend in to the baseboard scenery - this will probably invalidate the guarantee. The motor is very noisy. A warning should be put on the package to say that the flimsy metal handrails are sellotaped to the outside of the inner sleeve - I did not initially see these and they got bent out of shape. It also needs a lot of work to make it compatible with DCC. The one thing in its favour is that it sits on top of the baseboard and doesn't need a large hole cutting out for installation.Read full review

useful addition to layout

well constructed and easy to assemble. The wiring diagram was easy to follow. A bit noisy when the turntable moved, which is common.
