Intel CPU "sweet spot".
Intel delivered one of their best offerings in the Q6600.
This chip is feature rich, and because of that it is still relevant today.
Although it has a clock speed out-of-the-box of 2.4 GHz, it is easily overclocked to 3.0 GHz either via BIOS or a simple hardware modification. These CPUs are very stable at this boosted speed.
The 3.0Ghz speed increase produces negligible heat increase which can easily be handled with stock air cooling solutions and good quality thermal paste.
With water cooling and power tweaking, these chips can be made to run at 4.0+GHz.
This is certainly one of the best socket 775 chips ever produced, and they give serious value for a very low cost.Read full review

Great processor with speed!
Great processor! I bought it to put in an old optiplex 745 tower I had obtained recently. I put it in, and it greatly improved performance. It runs the unit pretty fast, and handles multiple windows at once. This was with windows 10 64 bit. It does seems to lag at times since I haven't upgraded the video card yet. It is a great processor, and will boost the speed on an old computer.Read full review

Upgrades Worth The Effort
If you're going to upgrade your computer's processor it's imperative that you do your background research about your computer's make, model, manufacturing date, etc. before installing a better processor. That said, I was surprised to find that my Dell Inspiron 537s desktop could be upgraded from an Intel Core 2 Duo to an Intel Core 2 Quad. I'm neither a newbie nor an expert but watching tutorials on YouTube gave me everything I needed for a smooth transition. I'm pleased that the installation went easily, quickly and the difference in the computing speeds ( . . . for most applications) is noticeably faster. I had recently flashed my BIOS so no additional software upgrades were necessary. Even though the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 isn't the latest generation of Intel Processors it is most definitely the right upgrade for my needs and purposes.Read full review

Great upgrade to bring life back to an old system
I installed this in an old Dell Precision, along with a better heat sink, a new AMD RX 550 graphics card, and some additional memory. It made a great budget gaming system for the kids! They played it over the Christmas holidays, and it ran really smoothly... at least good enough to make the kids happy. Way more powerful than the E6300 that was in the computerRead full review

Revived an old pc
Installed on an HP DX2300 Microtower running windows 10 64bit. Prior to installation of the cpu set the windows power plan to High Performance to get all four cores running. Your PSU should be preferably 400W (have not tested it with the original - 240W) . Having the original HP cooler the CPU idles at 40-45oC a (cores 1-4, RealTemp_370). At stress tests it reaches 70oC (prime95). Q6600 revived my old DX2300 at work (installed also an SSD and RAM). Thank you!!Read full review

Q6600 Core 2 Quad.
Upgraded from my Core 2 duo E7500 to the Q6600 and my games run much better. If you have a core 2 duo and you are looking for a cheap upgrade then do not let the price fool you, this cpu for around 20 dollars provides a huge boost over core 2 duo. After installing this cpu my games no longer lag. I am thankful these cpu's are on the market and so cheap because honestly at the performance gain 20$ is a steal. I get at least a
15-20 fps boost in most games, and more cores allow stable frame rates without lag. The Q6600 handles Fallout 4 and GTA V very well, and pairs great with a gtx 560.Read full review

Core 2 Quad Breathing new life into an old Celeron D Box.
Just installed this chip in an old Dell Dimesnion E520 that had a Celeron D chip in it. The difference in performance is night and day. While it is not a "bleeding edge" machine it does handle older games well and with an NVIDIA Graphics card installed plays 1080p HD Video with a breeze. This chip is great to breathe new life into an old machine!Read full review

Best quad CPU on market in term of price, quality and performance.
Just simple as unpackthe cpu, mount on motherboard, put thermal paste and turn on the PC. The Q6600 is very known for overclock users, however i use it in stock with no problems with temperature. Stable working verified.Read full review

Fast delivery, works great
This processor sped up my Dell Optiplex 745 to near current speeds along with a ram update and an SSD drive. A 13 year old computer running Windows 10 and able to process all video codecs.
The processor arrived in a plastic case with foam to protect it. It arrived before I expected it and works great.Read full review
