Works Well, Good Beam, easy to fit, 400% plus improvement very happy

The Bulb was to upgrade a torch to more modern output levels, I was hoping for a significant improvement on the old. The Bulb fitted was easy, the focus is far sharper than the original with no “hole” in the beam. The brightness and range of the beam far exceeded my expectations, I can light up stuff hundreds of meters away, The bulb was not cheap, but if you want to keep using your Maglite I highly recommend this. Only had it for a short time so cant comment on length of time it will last or what effect it has on battery life. Long story short, do I recommend these, yes I do.Read full review

Great replacement bulb

The old school Maglites, especially the hefty ones with D or C batteries have now been replaced by brighter, cheaper torches. The Maglite is the steam train of flashlights. I've had mine for years, made in Canada and goodness knows how many bulbs I got through, certainly a new one every time I dropped the torch. In the end it sat in the attic for a decade at least. I could never throw it away, but it was by now a dim and expensive alternative to modern torches. Until I discovered the Cree replacement bulb. I looked at really cheap ones direct from China, but decided on a more expensive, but more reliable UK manufacturer. It's really well made (perfect fit) and I don't think it will ever need to be replaced. It is much, much brighter than my old halogen bulbs. It was a great way to keep this classic D battery torch running.Read full review

LED upgrade, not Just for Maglite...

Hi,
Firstly YES I can recommend this product, & "Cree" do seem to be popular & have built up a good rep for quality....

I upgraded my old maglite 3D cell from the old style filament-based bulb to Cree TTs conversion & was impressed enough to buy another Cree TTs conversion for my LINPAC MOD Genuine UK Military 2D cell Right Angle Torch it was a snug fit, I thought at first it wasn't going to fit, but it does, so not just for Maglite models...

Value for Money? On first look these Might appear a little pricey but I think ( if you'll pardon the pun ) the difference is night & day. Even with the original reflector which is designed for the old gas filled bulbs, there is still a Huge improvement.
You have to weigh the initial investment of the flashlight itself against the future cost of batteries when deciding to upgrade to LED.
You might be thinking" just buy a new led torch", then it's what to do with your old nice but dim torch?

A price comparison of LED vs. krypton flashlights of similar size and functionality, reveals you can expect to pay roughly 40% more for the LED models.

*When it comes to battery life, LEDs have a definite advantage over krypton flashlights--LEDs are three to four times more energy efficient than krypton and other filament-based bulbs,

*By nature, krypton bulbs are more fragile & Since LEDs are simply clear, solid semiconductor diodes, they are nearly immune to burning out when the flashlight is dropped or otherwise subjected to high impact.

*it quite literally gives off a blinding light.

Give your Maglite a facelift

Having been a professional Maglite user for many years (Police retired) I noticed how powerful the new generation of personal torches (flashlights) had become. I was unaware that there was an upgrade to LED for the Maglite range of torches. So using the search on Ebay I found many suppliers of such upgrades. I ordered three LED conversions, two for 6 to12 volt and one 3 volt. They arrived very quickly and well packed. They construction if very good and looks the part for fitting my Maglite collection. I was not disappointed with the perormnce of both LED equiped torches. They out performed the big LED torches that I alreasy had and the illumination is nothing short of fantastic. Battery and bulb life should also be great. Time will tell. Definately reccommended for private or professional use.Read full review

Logical upgrade for all maglites.

Lots of people have magliite torches lying in drawers for twenty years. Remember how great it was to pop in some new batteries (at huge expense) and enjoy brightness for a few days followed by disappointment for a few more weeks followed by another trip to the Duracell shop.
Replacing the bulb takes nearly one minute, the brightness is staggering even with less than perfect batteries. There is a darkness in the middle of the beam which can be focused out presumably because the LED source only shines forward unlike the old filaments for which these torches were designed. Some people may find this irritating but I can live with this.
Nice to see this sturdy waterproof torch come back to life again.
The product looks sturdy and I feel this will have along life and consume less batteries.

Maglite 2D led bulb upgrade.

There is just no comparison to the beam produced by the old style bulb. It has transformed the torch, it now has a far superior light beam, well worth spending a bit of money for such a good result and the batteries will last longer.
At the same time I purchased the led bulb and reflector kit for a Mini Maglight with the same excellent result.

I have an old Maglite flashlight that us...

I have an old Maglite flashlight that uses a standard filament bulb. Whilst the brightness was fine when the cells were fresh, it quickly declined as they aged. This replacement not only provides a much brighter light, but also is relatively unaffected by the declining battery voltage as the cells are discharged.Read full review

Re invent your old Maglite with a LED upgrade (2D&2C).

What an amazing little Led Bulb found my old 2d Maglite removed the old dead batteries and Bulb cleaned it up installed this Led with some new batteries and wow a new lease of life for this famous old black torch. The amount of light is amazing way beyond what I was expecting and apparently it uses a lot less power.
In a nut shell its amazing, excellent value for money, highly recommended. If your reading this you need to get one you wont be disappointed.

A great upgrade to the already fantastic maglites

This is a great way to improve upon the already fantastic maglites. It’s as easy as changing a bulb but you get a much brighter light for both short range area lighting and very long range focused beam. It also burns less battery power...Read full review

Excellent upgrade!

Really pleased with this LED upgrade for my old Maglite torch (2 D cell version) super bright in comparison and the batteries last for ages now! (When removing your old bulb you have to unscrew the little silver bulb holder in the torch head...the old bulb doesn’t just pull out like other torches)Read full review
